Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I have not learned my lesson. Took the under 229 plus Barnes and Poetl rebound prop bets. Hopefully Siakam doesn't suck up a whole bunch of them tonight. Celtics game I easily won the under and got my ass beat betting Raptors +9. Not touching -8.5 tonight because who knows what team shows up. I'm still not sure what team showed up. You could probably have got some amazing odds half way through the 4th quarter!
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Big time comeback for the Raps tonight. I unfortunately missed the game!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Big time comeback for the Raps tonight. I unfortunately missed the game! I switched it, lol. So they won.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 And most importantly, they won holding their opponents to only 16 points in the 4th quarter
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I think the Raps were like 8 to 1 after being down around 20 after two quarters when I checked. I was thinking of putting down a couple of bucks on them because it was a 2-7 Wizards team and in basketball a team could get hot and could come back from a 20 pt deficit if enough time. Wish I did instead of the damn Bills game.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Good game tonight. I needed it to be. Need some quality numbers from Tatum and Brown. Last time I think it was over by 3rd quarter

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 After the first quarter of the season, the NBA is proving to the Raptors tank cohort that it never would have worked. There are too many absurdly awful teams in this league. Raptors are picking in the 10-12th spot (barring lottery luck) whether they win 30 or 40 games. Might as well try for the playoff spot and see what happens. The bottom four are pretty much locked in the east. So the Raptors just need to hop over one of Indiana or Brooklyn to get into the play-in.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Raps positioning for a nightmare scenario Gonna finish 7th last haha and not even get to draft there
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Raptors pretty much stuck in limbo. This team is lucky if they sneak into a Play-In game and even if they do, they likely get eliminated in the first round if they make it through. Or they come in 11th or 12th, and not even get a high pick. Best to just trade Siakam, OG and Trent at the deadline, since they're not going anywhere with these guys anyways. Trade Dennis Schroder and Poeltl as well if you could. Build around Scottie Barnes. No point in winning between 30-35 games.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Siakam's getting traded. For sure by the deadline but it could come any day now. I've noticed that they are transitioning away from him and towards Barnes lately.

Tank, keep 1st rounder for a couple of years, build around Barnes.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Looked at this fantasy numbers. Was not aware he was this good right now
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 The East has three dominant teams at top and three dreadful teams at the bottom. The other nine teams sit in the middle with -2 to +2 point differential. Anything you could say about the Raptors being in limbo you can say about those other eight teams. Do you expect all of them to effectively tank? I read somewhere that the best performance the Raptors have put up so far this year is when the trio of Barnes, Anunoby and Trent are on the court. They don't need to dump all the guys and tank (which won't work anyways because of all the mediocre to terrible teams). They just need to do a semi-rebuild by shipping out Siakam and building around Barnes. Then if Anunoby and Trent continue to work as well with Barnes as the stats suggest, it'll show up in the results and they may want to stay here.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Anunoby to the Knicks for Barrett, Quickley, picks...
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 anunoby + precious + flynn for barrett, quickley, and a 2nd apparently
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 anunoby + precious + flynn for barrett, quickley, and a 2nd apparently Ya. Just saw that update.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Barrett is kinda trash but Quickley is a good pickup. I can see him and Barnes meshing well together. At least Masai actually made a pro active trade. He held on to assets way too long the last few years and either got little back (Lowry) or nothing back (Fred). Now trade Siakam and give Barnes the keys.

Admittedly I dont watch the NBA all that much, but this is a guy that the all the analysts of this trade seem to think could be the one taking the biggest leap. Runner up for 6th man of the year... near 40% shooter from 3pt range, stuck as a backup. Then there's the age thing, Barnes is 22, Quickley is 24, RJ is 23. Just gotta get a good deal done for Siakam now and it's even more of a necessity.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I guess it’s better than losing Anunoby for nothing.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Detroit breaks their 28 game losing streak tonight .... Against the Raptors. Lol
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Detroit breaks their 28 game losing streak tonight .... Against the Raptors. Lol Raptors are trash. Need to trade siakam and focus on 2025.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Only bad thing ablut the OG trade is that Sportsnet and TSN will shove Barrett down our throats even though he is not that good

Yeah I think best case they got Quickley pre breakout, but even if he doesn't, he's still a really good fit next to Barnes. I'm not a fan of RJ's game but as you said he's still really young so maybe there's some upside there, plus some added motivation possibly since (as the pre game show reminded viewers every 10 seconds) he's playing for his hometown team.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 RJ averaging 18 PPG, 4 RBP, 2 APG so not bad at all offensively. I'm assuming defensively he isn't that great when on the floor. DeMar DeRozan type upside though at least?
