    He sure isn't a flamethrower. His 4 seam was averaging 92 in 2024, so hopefully he works up a little closer to that figure. The guy rides and dies on his breaking stuff. Bring him up and let's see what happens!

    This kid has 200 plate appearances already this year and started off in Buffalo with a bang. His defense is nothing to write home about, so he'll have to make it as a bat-first corner outfielder. He's going to rocket up the organizational rankings at the mid-year updates.

    100% this. His stuff isn't going to play up in a relief role. He needs to go down to AAA and see if he can start commanding the fastball. Without the four seam pinpoint location he had last year, everyone is just hammering his entire arsenal: fastball, splitter, curveball - everything is being hit hard. The heat map for his fastball location this year is horrendous. He'll need to see if he can work things out in AAA - I haven't given up on him yet, but it's been a rough go this year.

    Yup, it is what it is. Rogers wasn't just making a 'baseball' decision as they're about to close on the purchase of Bell's interest in MLSE and are quite likely to pursue an IPO or sale for all or part of their sports interests in order to reduce hangover debt from their Shaw acquisition a few years back. On their last quarterly call, they made clear they're "advancing their plan to surface value from their sports assets" and already talking to potential investors. I'm sure they saw Vlad contract as important in this moment in time to protect the short-term image and value of the club. Whether we like it or not, he's the most marketable face/personality on the team to the mainstream fans. All that said, I agree with you guys, he was overpaid.

    No apologies needed from the Sheriff. In the darkest days you and Spanky were a beacon of hope on this forum. I still remember being one of the few voices saying "it's still early" when the team was in a tailspin, and going into hiding while the villagers were running around with pitchforks.
