  1. Bo, Springer, Kirk, Vladdy... 130 wRC+ for Vladdy with 7 homers and 1 fWAR mid-June is a joke Expecting Springer to bounce back? How about just staying league average? He went from 133 wRC+ to 104 wRC+ to 76 wRC+ Kirk goes from 129 wRC+ to 96 wRC+ to 80 wRC+ Bo's wRC+ over his career, 140 - 120 - 122 - 130 - 125 - 83 Last year we had a drop off for all these hitters from well above league average to league average. People were hoping for them to bounce back but instead they've gotten worse. Would have been nice if they could have at least stayed league average, we'd probably have a handful more wins that way. It's like a nightmare
  2. I doubt the Dodgers think they can do anything to suddenly make Biggio a 2-3 WAR player. He's just a decent, versatile bench player that won't drain value, he'll hover just above replacement and not hurt you.
  3. I disagree. Even if they were confident Teo would bounce back away from safeco there is no guarantee he'd even sign with Toronto instead of the Dodgers. I know I wouldn't if given the choice. So in other words he may have never been a realistic option to begin with, at least not without an absurd overpayment. That's the whole point. Lots of options to fix the offense my ass haha
  4. Ok, so I wonder how many more runs the Jays would be scoring if Bo and Springer weren't so unlucky? Lol
  5. I wonder how many more runs we'd be scoring if Bo and Springer had OPS in the .700s instead of the low .600s?
  6. They should have increased their payroll to $300 million for another 1-2 fWAR that we can easily pick.out now with hindsight Haha yup
  7. They should have signed Gurriel. Haha yup
  8. Teo had a 105 wRC+ last year but the Jays should have outbid the Dodgers for him because there was never any doubt he'd bounce back in the middle of a stacked Dodgers line up. I mean it was all but guaranteed now that we can see it happening in real time. Haha yup
  9. Jays should have waited until June to see which of the s***** FA bats that were available were going to be good in 2024 and then went back in time to sign them. Haha yup
  10. They should have signed Soler Haha yup
  11. Yeah, Macko has been shoving in AA
  12. The more damning an concerning problem is Bo 0.3 fWAR, Springer 0.3 fWAR and also Vladdy 1.2 fWAR
  13. Yeah, I'm not surprised by the difference in those players values, just pointing out that they aren't some deep team loaded with superstars, they are an average team that is propped up by two superstars that are healthy and having superstar seasons. I am surprised that their pitching has been this good without Cole though.
  14. The Yankees are basically the Jays but their two superstars are actually superstars and their bullpen hasn't been destroyed by injuries and underperformance. Soto & Judge 10 fWAR / Rest of position players ~7 fWAR Vlad & Bo 1.6 fWAR / Rest of position players ~7 fWAR SP War NYY 5.3 (11th) SP War Jays 5.1 (12th) RP War NYY 1.5 (15th) RP War Jays -1.5 (30th) And their payroll is $62 million higher as well.
  15. I wonder if that one poster still thinks we should "fire Varsho into the sun"?? Jonn IIRC
  16. Varsho with more WAR than Gurriel and Moreno combined for 1/5th the cost Plus our catchers are both positive WAR and combined have triple the WAR value of Moreno so it's not like he left a gaping hole in the line up
  17. Honestly, the best and cheapest addition to the team at this point would be Bo pulling a rabbit out of his hat like he did in 2022. He had a 106 wRC+ at the end of June that year, the rest of the season he put up 152 wRC+
  18. It was a surprise for sure. We were all expecting Varsho to be the full time CFer and for the Jays to bring in another corner OFer with a big bat. They clearly misjudged the market and jumped the gun on KK. Still no guarantee they end up with Teo though if they had waited.
  19. Outbidding the Dodgers at that point of the off season would have given the Jays four full time OFers and put them into the next tier of luxury tax penalties. And also at that point they wouldn't have expected Springer to have an 80wRC+ and a .600 OPS in June, and they wouldn't have any guarantee that Teo would be hitting like this. He was nearly as bad as Springer was last season. Everybody just loves to climb on the hindsight band wagon.
  20. Teo is turning into this year's Gurriel and Moreno. Everytime he does something good we get to hear about how the Jays missed out. This assumes two things: 1. That the Jays could have signed him at all 2. That he'd be doing the same thing in Jays uniform
  21. vs. the A's in two games Jays starters, 210 pitches, 1 run given up Jays bullpen, 1 pitch, 1 run given up
  22. 1 pitch from the bullpen in this series so far haha
  23. Would be nice to keep the BP fresh with I assume Francis starting tomorrow?
