I wonder if Seranthony and the Jays have any appetite for a reunion? He seemed to fit in well. Would still love to see a closer added, and they could probably get both Fairbanks and Seranthony for about $20-25 million combined i would think.

$123 million payroll last year and $136 million projected this year. The AAV on the Dodgers big 4 starting pitchers is $130 million haha

I wonder if Arizona is a good fit for Berrios, if the Jays try to move him. Their rotation is a mess, especially with Burnes out with TJS. This is of course assuming that they strike out via free agency. I'm fine keeping Berrios as the #5 though, as long as his price tag isn't keeping the Jays from adding some more pieces, like a good hitter and a high leverage reliever or closer.

Haha. There always has to be a contrarian kicking around. I'd imagine the next 6 pages of this thread will consist of the contrarian arguing with 20 different people about how much Cease sucks despite him averaging 4+ fWAR the last 5 seasons, having 200+ Ks per season and 32 starts per season for the last 5 seasons all because he had 4.55 ERA and an 8-12 record in 2025 lol He suxxxxx

Nice to see Nimmala rated high for his arm and defense. Gives you hope that he could be useful even if the bat isn't elite, especially since he does have power.

Marte and then Tucker with deferred money to lower the luxury tax hit. Would leave plenty of money to sign a good SP and leverage BP arm, like Imai and Suarez. If the Jays are checking on Marte it's just a baseball FO doing it's due diligence. Doesn't neccessarily mean Bo is gone, just means they aren't sure yet and need to have other options available to them if he does leave. Or yeah, it could also mean they know he's gone and are searching for replacements.

If/when they sign or trade for another starter you just move Lauer to the pen again as the long man and 6th starter. Easy peasy. Berrios contract sucks but performance wise his floor is basically a 1 WAR #5 starter and if you get a bounce back it's gravy. If they trade for Marte, I'd rather land Tucker than retain Bo. In a perfect world the Jays land Imai and he turns into a stud, Yesavage proves to be a legit, sustainable stud, and Ricky T comes back, lights up AAA and by mid season makes his way onto the MLB roster and is also a stud. Three headed SP monster for the next decade.

I imagine the Mets are trying very hard to land Tucker. Not that this trade would make much difference with that.

I wouldn't be mad if they signed Belly, but I'd rather they sign two TOR SP's instead if that's all they could fit in the budget.

Signing Bo and Cease would put the Jays close to 90 win projection.

Just gimme..... - One bat (Bo, Tucker, Bregman) - One TOR SP (Cease, Imai, Suarez) - One high leverge BP arm (Diaz, Suarez, Helsley, Fairbanks) Given there will only be so many teams in serious bidding for some or all of these players (Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, Cubs, Jays), and given that the Jays are a proven contender with willingness to spend, we should hopefully be able to land one of each of those guys. And if the Jays are willing to break the bank in 2026, just keep on signing guys haha.

I'd rather have Bregman than Bellinger. And honestly, before those two I'd rather just stack the rotation as an option, if spending is limited. -
Nah, I'd rather know where the big pieces fall earlier on and have a pretty good idea what the final roster will look like. This slow burn is just months and months of "ifs" and "maybe's". Each to their own I guess.

Teams like TO don't need to take risks like this. They'll go year by year and if he develops into an ace, when the time comes they will happily pay him like an ace.

If the Jays are willing to match whatever offer he gets, I can't see him walking.

Depends on how good Bieber and Yesavage are. They both have top of rotation upside. Either way, it was good enough to win 104 games last year with limited contributions from those two key pieces, and with Berrios clearly pitching hurt as the season went on. He's not that far removed from being a 3+ fWAR pitcher and game 1 playoff starter. And the insurance would be having likely one of the best offenses and defenses in MLB.
