  1. Damn. I figured the Jays would have landed another good reliever by now. Coming off the board quickly
  2. Nah. If he's good enough the rest of the season to make opting out his best option, then our chances this season just went up quite a bit. It'll mean he's pitching like an ace or top of the rotation starter. Then if he walks we are in exactly the same position we were going to be in next year anyways but without Khal Stephen. So, not really that different, and I'd hardly call that f***ed.
  3. The Padres are moving Suarez because he can opt out after this season and likely will? Man, get Cease, Suarez and then get Bednar too. f*** it. Load up.
  4. Imagine if the Jays snagged Cease now? That'd be insane wouldn't it. Seems unlikely, but going into the playoffs with Bieber, Cease, Gausman starting would be nutso.
  5. Pretty pumped about this. Hopefully he's his old self when he comes back. If so, literally just added the ace we all talked about needing, and with Gausman starting to shove lately, that's a pretty deadly 1-2 punch. If Bieber declines the option, do the Jays get a comp pick if he signs elsewhere? Just curious.
  6. Yeah, if Bieber's stuff looks good in his rehab games that could be the ace we need. Him and Bednar could be quite the haul for this team.
  7. With the Jays in 1st place in the entire MLB, I certainly won't be fretting about much of anything. I was one of the more positive guys around when they significantly under achieved the last 2-3 seasons. If Vlad has a 4 WAR season, that's a win in my books, even with his hefty price tag.
  8. I dunno, a 4 WAR year is weak sauce for a guy with a $500 million price tag, but you can live with it when the rest of the roster is riddled with 2-3+ WAR players and has ZERO passengers.
  9. Gausman looking like an Ace his last handful of starts and Vladdy starting to swing the big stick. With the depth this team has, if those two keep that up.....
  10. I don't think anyone "wants" to trade him, but the Jays have a pretty good group of OFs now and have been tearing MLB up without him, so if he's a piece that can land a top of the rotation starter it's something to think about.
  11. Three closers with control past this season. Agreed, hopefully they can land one. If they landed two of them that'd be something for sure. Nothing like closing out the 7th, 8th and 9th innings with three legitimate, proven closers. Doesn't seem likely, but here's to hoping.
  12. Imagine if Burr, Garcia and Sandlin weren't scuffling with injuries all year. This team would almost not need to add anything.
  13. McMahon is like Daulton Varsho lite but at 3B instead of CF. Decent add for the Yankees on paper.
  14. Yeah Bednar and Keller make too much sense. Roll with a 6 man rotation unless someone gets hurt. Our rotation is full of older dudes with million miles on their arms and they were looking worn out heading into the all star break. Then Bednar gives you that insurance on the closer role and that sweet swing and miss 8th inning guy if Hoffman keeps it together. Also love that both are under control past this season too. Should also get at least one other reliever too.
  15. So Yesavage got knocked around in 3 of his last 4 starts and now hasn't pitched since July 6th. Hmmmm
  16. He's a hitting machine that can't stay healthy.
  17. It'll be interesting to see which minor league arms the Jays part with at the deadline, but as of right now the Jays upper minors system looks like it's going to be stacked with starting pitching going into next season. Tiedemann Estrada Rojas Yesevage Stanifer Stephen Barrierra As well as guys like Bloss, Macko, Bastardo, Rogers and Watts-Brown kicking around.
  18. The Rangers are only 2.5 games out of the wild card and 7-3 in their last 10 with a +56 run diff. Can't see them trading their ace unless they collapse over the next 10 days
  19. At this point if it was a choice between adding another mid rotation starter and a high leverage relief arm or add two high leverage relief arms, I pick option two. I agree with John havoc, it's hard to spend assets to add another mid rotation starter when we already have 5 of those and potentially Manoah coming back as well. If everyone stays healthy, who do you boot from the rotation right now? Lauer would be the easy answer but he's been the best starter for a while now. DeGrom would be such a perfect addition.
