    They didn’t option him. They DFA’d him and eventually outrighted him when he wasn’t claimed. Since he hadn’t been outrighted before and has so little service time he cannot elect free agency.

    I don’t think it is guesswork on his part. I would be more inclined to believe the Jays have a narrative they want out there and use the company guys to put it out there.

    Maybe he will be a debut sometime mid season guy. They are bound to need to fill a rotation spot at some point.

    Teams that have the option to will most definitely move revenue away from the major league team. The Jays likely give Rogers a sweet tv deal (but Canadian viewers aren’t worth as much advertising revenue as American apparently) but also deal in Canadian dollars for much of their revenue.

    For what it is worth, the teams at the bottom of that last image I posted are a far bigger problem than the ones at the top.

    They could spend way more and still be making money. They spent only 40 percent of revenue on player salaries in 2024

    This would be much better if the comparison was to an org actually good at developing pitchers and not the Jays. Give me the numbers on say the Astros or even the Yankees.

I don't think you sign Trey to an extension right now when his value is arguably at its near peak. I'd want to see how he handles the inevitable adjustment the league makes to his uniqueness first.

    I wouldn't trust someone asking for odds in a H2H dynasty matchup. they either have a gambling problem or next thing you know they would have a trade sending out their future to win that week.

    One also has to wonder how much of the increase in injuries has to to do with the increase of these travel ball teams that are sometimes going year round. Pitchers throw so many bullets by the time they are drafted now without ever really resting their arms.

    Did we? They have targeted pitchers who they believe can stay healthy in Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt. Santander was injured or ineffective the bulk of the year. Bo missed a month and Springer, Vlad and Kirk all had IL stints. Scherzer missed extended time. Berrios and Bassitt missed some time. Bowden too although that could have been a Avoid the minors injury. They lost Sandlin and Yimi for the bulk of the season. I don't know that I would consider that fantastic luck?

    The Jays are going to be tied to nearly every free agent this year regardless of whether or not they actually are. Agents know the Jays are going to spend and will be using that to try to gain leverage with other teams.
