  1. I don't think this would be the case. The low spenders likely want no upper cap with much higher tax penalties so there is more money going into the pot to be distributed to the non tax spenders.
  2. It seems the market is quite depressed with all contracts coming in below projections, except Cease's. Now maybe we will see that isn't the case once the other big names sign, time will tell.
  3. Is it starting to feel like the Jays misread the market big time on the Cease contract?
  4. I was down in Atlanta a few years ago. The are around the stadium with all kinds of cars and restaurants where you can carry your drinks out into the streets was fantastic. Then in the stadium they had a little museum for the team which was really to see as well. Great stadium other than location.
  5. Deep dynasty league. 20 team, 26 man MLB roster, 30 man MILB. 7x7 with hitting stats being HR, net SB, RBI, Runs, AVG, TB and OPS. I'm coming out of a rebuild where my OF is weak atm,
  6. With Skenes, Chandler, Keller and Ashcraft and Jared Jones coming back in May they could be sneaky good.
  7. Thoughts on Lawrence Butler after this down year last year? I'm in a dynasty league where I have both Abrams and Konnor Griffin. I'm wondering if I should explore a deal of Abrams for Butler plus something else.
  8. You still looking? I may be interested.
  9. Melton is easily the best prospect in those deals imo
  10. Sweet, Berrios and YRod for Roman Anthony?
  11. I wondered the same thing. I thought initially they might be looking to clear salary to make a splash but it's not like Baz clears much salary.
  12. We could probably get Gunnar and Holliday if we were to dangle Berrios.
  13. For a while there he was collecting shortstops like JP Ricciardi collecting third basemen.
  14. You have to factor in the cost of replacing garbage cans so frequently too though.
  15. Arguably the position was devalued by shifting so the ban in 2023 might start to swing that equation.
  16. That's the reason for most of the issues in the world right now. It's also not 10 million over 50 million. It's 104 million in career earnings over 144 million in career earnings. Either one of those provides a luxury lifestyle easily.
  17. I am not. I don’t think there is any chance it would happen due to the agent/union. But if it were me and I had already made 94 million dollars, I would rather be happy getting another 10 than unhappy getting 50. Either way myself and my kids are set for life.
  18. After this year, he would have 94 million in career earnings. If he isn't starting, I wonder if he would consider opting out of the last two years to go somewhere to start at a slightly lower AAV. There is something to be said for being in the role you want over getting the most money, especially when you already have generational wealth. My guess is the agent or union would take him into picking up the option.
  19. It would be OK, maybe that team would just be signing Bo in the hopes we would trade Berrios for him.
  20. I mean even Mo blew a game 7
  21. They might break a Traject system.
  22. I don't think there is any closer left on the market who is arguably better than Hoffman.
  23. They are keeping the name.
  24. I'd assume he will be allowed to leave early if there is a chance to be commissioner. I'm not sure there was a chance he wouldn't be back even if not for the success this year. I think he was hired to upgrade the facilities and generate different streams of revenue, which he had been knocking out of the park. Atkins, on the other hand, I think was in real danger.
  25. I'm not sure I am. Article XXIII.C.2.b.A of the CBA states "A. Assignee Club. If the assignment occurs between championship seasons, the Average Annual Value (“AAV”) of the Uniform Player’s Contract will be calculated pursuant to Section E below as if the Uniform Player’s Contract began with the season following the assignment. If the assignment occurs during the championship season, the AAV will be recalculated pursuant to Section (2)(c) below as if the Uniform Player’s Contract began with the day following the assignment. " and section E contains "Average Annual Value of Guaranteed Multi-Year Contracts A Uniform Player’s Contract with a term of more than one (1) championship season (“Multi-Year Contract”) shall be deemed to have a Salary in each Guaranteed Year equal to the “Average Annual Value” (“AAV”) of the Contract (plus any bonuses subsequently included by operation of Section E(4) below). The AAV shall be calculated as follows: the sum of (a) the Base Salary in each Guaranteed Year plus (b) any portion of a Signing Bonus (or any other payment that this Article deems to be a Signing Bonus) attributed to a Guaranteed Year in accordance with Section E(3) below plus (c) any deferred compensation or annuity compensation costs attributed to a Guaranteed Year in accordance with Section E(6) below shall be divided by the number of Guaranteed Years. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if a Multi-Year Contract is signed after Opening Day of the championship season, the: (i) Base Salary in the first Guaranteed 131 Year for purposes of the AAV calculation shall be determined by multiplying that Base Salary by a fraction, the numerator of which shall be the number of championship season days that the Player was paid the Base Salary, and the denominator shall be the number of championship season days in that championship season; and (ii) the first Guaranteed Year shall not be considered a full Guaranteed Year for purposes of the AAV calculation, but shall be considered a partial year equal to the fraction described in subsection (i) above." It's legalese, but that sure sounds like the remaining value of the contract should be what counts towards CBT.
