  1. With how bad Seattle has looked against spin they might have plans for Bassitt in a future game too.
  2. I wonder if they were testing him hoping he could be the Tony Taters replacement.
  3. Honestly, I'm pretty sure the options were so underwhelming at 2B compared to Gimenez that they made an exception to the rules and made him eligible (technically he was under the innings played limits at the deadline). He's the one winner I would be most confident about.
  4. I was looking at Max's splits and noticed a stark difference when it comes to catchers. It's probably just small sample size but does make you wonder if there is something there.
  5. If he won, he would be the first to do so at 2 positions in one season. 3 other players have won at different positions in different years (Erstad, Polanco and LeMahieu ). I think Ernie will be in tough against Garcia in the 3B battle but it would be super cool to see him win both!
  6. I looked into it. It is possible as the utility gold glove is not based on voting and is awarded based on a SABR formula.
  7. Anyone know if it is possible for Ernie to win both? Unfortunately, this could be a sign that he wins neither as his votes could be split between the two.
  8. My reasons for hope as this series shifts back to Seattle with the Jays down 2-0. 1. The Jays are built for T Mobile way better than the mariners are. It suppresses homeruns. The long ball has arguably been the Jays pitching staffs biggest weakness this year. The jays offense is far less reliant on homeruns than the mariners offense is. I like our chances of stringing together hits much better than theirs. 2. Jays fans coming down in full force from BC. We've seen many instances where T Mobile plays more like a home game for the Jays. I know it won't be quite the same int he playoffs but hopefully lots of you west coasters have procured tickets and make your presence felt!
  9. The long ball has been his biggest issue this year. T Mobile suppresses homeruns so hopefully it plays well for him.
  10. The top of the divisions are similar sure, but the Athletics lost over 100 games twice and 90 games once in that time frame. The Angels have averaged over 90 losses in that time. The Rangers have averaged close to 87 losses including 102 in 2021. Only one team in the AL East has had a 90 loss season in the last 5 years and it was just one year(2021 Orioles).
  11. I was thinking I might start a gofundme to crowdfund a really good Hypnotist to convince Vlad every opponent is the Yankees.
  12. yep, Non-competitive at bats most of the night last night.
  13. How’d that go for the Yankees?
  14. That’s not a small if for Cole. He’s what…34 now coming off TJ? He may never get all the way back.
  15. Because the Yankees need another left handed hitting DH?
  16. And I would bet the fact the Jays strung together a bunch of hits in game 3 when Vlad was intentionally walked contributed to the decision to pitch to Vlad in the first inning of game 4.
  17. If that is the case I would look at it as a bonus. that means they have had two weeks to identify and fix the tipping.
  18. That's a tough call to me. I think Detroit, especially knowing Skubal is down until late in the series. Seattle scares me a bit but at the end of the day, to win the World Series they will need to beat a team better than Seattle anyway.
  19. You certainly have to question bringing in a reliever who judge had hit two homers off in 5 plate appearances in that situation. Other questions/notes I have after that game (sorry, I haven't had a chance to read the thread so maybe have likely been discussed) 1. This team has gone defense over offense with leads all season long, so why bring in Barger with an early 5 run lead? 2. Does this management team not understand reverse splits? They keep bringing in lefties to face Bellinger (OPS is 300 points higher versus lefties than righties) and seem to not understand the Davis has an OPS versus righties 200 points higher than Lukes. Now I will admit maybe they base this just as much off pitch mix as anything and that could tell a different story but on the surface it is questionable. 3. Along those lines, is Santander a good enough bat versus righties at this point to justify keeping him in over Lukes defensively once the lefty arm was used? 4. I hope the bullpen comes back stronger than it has looked the past couple of games. It would be nice to not have to use Gausman/Trey this round to have them fresh to start in a likely ALCS.
  20. I'm on the east coast...I'm not getting tickets either way.
  21. I heard Carney was looking at harnessing the energy from the wind generated from Ben Rice whiffing on splitters. I loved watching that for the first two games. Honestly, if it were to go 5, I don't think Rice should be in the lineup against what will likely be Gausman and Trey.
  22. I am hoping for the Dodgers for a couple of reasons. The main one being home field. The second being how sweet beating Shohei and Roki would feel.
