Playing time was probably more of a factor in putting both of those guys in Lansing. Get them into playing full season ball as soon as possible, and if they're struggling move em' down when the lower level seasons start.
I recognize Martin does a lot for the pitching staff and that he brings more value than his batting average implies, but his AB's have been pretty ugly this spring.
I don't know why anyone in their right mind who's a Jays fan would want Bautista to have a bad year.
People do realize he's on our team this season, right?
Russell Martin posts a 3.5 win season
Tulowitzki hits 30 homers for only the third time in his career
Melvin Upton Jr. has a 20-20 season
Donaldson has a down year but still posts over 5 WAR.
There will be no significant injury to the rotation again (knocks on wood)
Steve Pearce plays over 120 games posting > 2.5 wins
You could say that for any number of teams for any given draft year. Baseball drafts have and always will be a crapshoot. Much more so than other sports.
More than anything, they probably don't want to run the clock on Tellez when he's raw. Probably want to make sure he can stick at AAA for sure before bringing him up.
