  1. Of course I'm not expecting him to be Anthony Rizzo. That's totally unrealistic and unfair to Tellez. I'm just providing an example of another guy who scouts felt had the exact same problem as Tellez and turned out fine. If Tellez can be half of Rizzo that'd be a rousing success.
  2. "Lots of incentives." - this I like. Hoping for more information soon.
  3. Anthony Rizzo scouting report from 2011: "He's not Gonzalez, but Rizzo isn't far away from succeeding him as the most dangerous hitter in San Diego's lineup. To do so, he'll have to make adjustments after big league pitchers were able to exploit the length and uppercut in his swing with quality fastballs up in the zone. … He still needs to improve his defensive consistency, however, after committing 30 errors in the last two seasons. He's a below-average runner, as expected for a player his size. … Once he does so, he could develop into a .270 hitter capable of producing 30 homers and a healthy amount of walks on an annual basis." Hmm.....sounds a lot like one of our prospects......
  4. Anthony Rizzo had the same concerns with his swing that scouts seem to have with Rowdy. Long swing, won't catch up to fastballs etc. They both put up pretty identical numbers in the minors actually. But at the end of the day, the best part of Rowdy Tellez's game is that he's able to adjust at any level, and therefore hit. He'll be fine. That statement about Vlad is very encouraging. Maybe he'll end up being the unicorn prospect that our farm needs.
  5. 2017 MLB Pipeline Top 10 RHP list released: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017/?list=rhp 1. Alex Reyes (STL) 2. Tyler Glasnow (PIT) 3. Lucas Giolito (CWS) 4. Michael Kopech (CWS) 5. Francis Martes (HOU) 6. Anderson Espinoza (SDP) 7. Brent Honeywell (TBR) 8. Jose De Leon (LAD) 9. Jeff Hoffman (COL) 10. Reynaldo Lopez (CHW) White Sox taking up 30% of the list, and they might potentially get either Glasgow or Martes depending on who gets Quintana.
  6. The best part is idiots arguing that Trumbo is better than Bautista. Enjoy your 0.5 WAR outfielder at $15 million per year, O's.
  7. Tweet from this morning, but it did mention that the Indians and Rays were in the bidding. Think it'll get done, but I am wondering why it's taking this long.
  8. Let's just wait until he passes his physical. I wouldn't exactly call this a 100% done deal.
  9. I know. Just pointing out how bad its going to be.
  10. If you thought the casuals reaction to Encarnacion to Indians was bad....
  11. Watch Jose show up to the Orioles Spring Training camp or something. Pulling a Fowler.
  12. I never thought there was a chance in hell that Bautista would've sat out till June. He would've taken something if not from us, and that would've netted us a 1st rounder. Now we're getting him back at the cost of a 1st round draft pick. I want Jose over that draft pick, but I'd like it to be longer term deal than just 1 year because of it.
  13. I was saying if he didn't sign with us and signed with a bottom 10 team like the Phillies.
  14. If Bautista rebounds, you can flip him to a contender during the deadline and get something better than a high second round pick. Agree to disagree I guess.
  15. Phillies might've screwed the rest of the market. Guys like Moss, Pagan and Valbuena should get much better deals.
  16. That's the thing. If we're giving up a 1st round pick, I'd rather get more than just 1 year of Jose. And before anyone says, I don't think there was a chance in hell that Jose was gonna wait out till June. Some team with a protected pick like the Phillies, or one that already gave up their pick like the Rockies would've gotten him on a cheap deal.
  17. I guess the only positive with a mutual option is that there's no buyout.
  18. I don't think a mutual option has ever been taken up by both sides. The very idea of a "mutual option" is contradictory in nature.
  19. Mutual option? Gross. Might as well be a one year deal. I'd rather a team option.
  20. Well it would be $10 million guaranteed then because of the buyout. Also, my understanding is that the option is worth $11 million with $3 million in incentives.
  21. That is more money than I thought Saunders would get. $10 million guaranteed. Also the important part: "Deal pending a physical"
  22. If you wait until just before Spring Training, guys like Moss, Pagan, Coghlan etc will come dirt cheap on 1 year deals. Getting Bautista will push us to around ~$153 million. Push that budget to $165 and you can probably get a backup C and OF. Maybe even squeeze in a bullpen arm depending on who you want to get.
  23. Getting Cutch for that price made especially no sense because Bautista was still on the market. Glad they didn't actually do that deal.
  24. I remember during the wildcard game when he didn't score from 2nd on a base hit. Good times.
