  1. I know the K issue is real, but I really hope the Kendall over Warmoth pick isn't gonna end up like the Davis over Seager pick when its all said and done.
  2. DL Hall. Solid pick by the O's at 21.
  3. Howie Kendrick is another possibility for a trade target. Can play the outfield as well as second base and also in the last year of his contract. I'd prefer a lefty if we do acquire an OF though.
  4. Link: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/06/quick-hits-maeda-profar-beltre-cruz-tanaka.html Interesting. Dodgers have good SP depth as it is, and its well known that manipulating the DL to bolster their pitching depth. I don't the Dodgers would trade him. Had a good season last year and on a good contract, but the goldmine of MLB starters the Dodgers have makes it an interesting conversation.
  5. Didn't even know this, but apparently Addison Russell had 2 kids with 2 different girls within the span of 2 months. Really taking his Pokemon gimmick seriously. Apparently he's gotta catch em' all.
  6. A shift from CF to a corner outfield spot will help him out defensively. He’s starting to come around offensively in May. He walk rate is up and his power beginning to show a little as well. K-rate is still about career norms. His BsR is 2.1 this season meaning his base running is above average and god knows this team can use some of that. Liriano was far worse when we traded for him over a larger sample size. Granderson has at least turned it around.
  7. Kinda like how the career .253/.338/.471 hitter in Curtis Granderson isn't gonna hit .168 for whole season hey? Especially when said peripherals of his are fine as well.
  8. He had a 5.28 FIP and 1.62 WHIP in 21 starts with the Pirates. He was giving up 6 hits a game on average and walking everyone under the moon. Would hardly call that fine. The only good indicator he had that was consistent with his previous success was his K% and K/9. Stuff was there, but had zero control.
  9. You could literally make that argument for any trade where you’re acquiring a player whose stock is low. Liriano was actually a much worse trade than this would be because he was posting a 5.50 ERA in a much larger sample size of 21 starts and 113 IP. Plus he was owed far more money. So we minimized the risk in case he went back to his prior self by asking for two top 10 prospects. Granderson at least is turning it around in May so far. He’s been an above average hitter so that’s a good tell-tale sign. More importantly, he has no commitment past this season.
  10. Not even close. The whole point of the trade would be that you either get salary relief or prospect capital to the point where it makes it worth it to have him for the potential upside. And worst case scenario, we only have him for a couple of months. No long term financial commitment.
  11. Veteren player making a high salary not doing well in the season. Trade for him and hope a change in scenery helps him out. Sounds vaguely similar to the same position Liriano was in. Granderson is hitting .222/.315/.476 with an OPS of .791 in May. There's reasons to believe he can turn it around. He's old, but we'll have him for what? 4 months if we do the trade this week? He's expensive, but that gives us leverage more than anything. Mets can eat a bit of salary, or we can take on a bit more and get prospect capital in return. It's not the worst idea in the world. We get a left handed bat in our lineup who has a good track record.
  12. Whether or not any one likes it, it seems like a trade that this front office would make. Buy low and hope for a bounce back. Like Liriano, Grilli, Benoit etc.
  13. Interesting post about trading for Granderson: Bruce and Cespedes are out due to injury, so Granderson will be an every day guy. But it will be interesting to see what happens when Cespedes and Bruce return.
  14. Conforto hit 2HR today. As did Edwin and Charlie Blackmon who now leads the NL in RBI's despite batting leadoff.
  15. What are the chances that Vlad ends up as a Top 5 guy next season? Scouts almost unanimously agree on his hitting prowess.
  16. Giving up on a 24 year old switch hitting outfielder who plays good defense and has premium speed would be absolutely criminal. At the very worst, Pompey is a 4th OF, which is still valuable. Also, he's gonna be cheap for the foreseeable future. You give guys like that every chance to succeed.
  17. TJ Zeuch went 7.0 innings yesterday. Gave up 11 hits, but still managed to keep it at 4ER. 7 starts in and he's sitting at a 3.00 ERA now. His lack of walks is pretty absurd. 1.9 BB/9 thus far into the season, and had 1.9 BB/9 in Rookie League as well in a decent sample size. Kid definitely has control.
  18. This kid is unbelievable. Even if he doesn't pan out, what he's doing at such a young age is still pretty incredible. He's already proving he can hit, but what about his glove? Scouts were saying he might not stick at short. More than likely corner OF or 2B.
  19. The whole 30th round pick is deceiving. Tellez was ranked as the 59th-best player available by Baseball America coming into the 2013 draft. He was one of the better bats available and a consensus Top 100 guy. He just dropped tremendously in the draft because everyone was convinced he was going to USC.
  20. Interesting comments I found while browsing /r/baseball about Tellez http://i.imgur.com/UWx0muh.png
  21. How much would it cost to extend Stroman? Any good comps?
  22. Maile is a really good framer. Stole a couple balls there.
