    In many ways he's having one of his best maybe even his best season. He's just had three or four games this year where an inning just becomes an avalanche on him. I'm sure luck is playing a major role in how extreme his results have been. But once a couple of guys get on, he's at risk of the inning running away from him. I'm not and I haven't been acting as extremely as some others have been with him this year, I don't think they should give up on the guy and I still trust him, but I do think it's worth having an insurance policy behind him if Varland is going to pitch before him. Rogers or at least Fisher.

    Yeah I know his command has been outstanding, except there are times where it starts to get away from him and all of a sudden he can't find his command. That's the point. He just inexplicably comes apart at the seams. I do think overuse could be an issue, hopefully we get healthier and we don't have to use these guys at this rate for the rest of the season.

    It's a problem that it's even a struggle for him to get the 30 home runs in the first place. He had a hot couple of months of 8 home runs in order to get there 2 years ago, he hasn't touched that since, until suddenly he finds eight home runs in 18 games against the toughest pitching in the postseason. WTF?! I get that he's more of a line drive hitter, but I'm sorry with his raw power 30 home runs should not be a struggle. He should be a 40 to 60 home run threat. Why does he swing to contact with less than two strikes? Don't they always talk about getting your A-swing off? That ain't it. How does he miss barreling so many meatballs that should be launched into the sun? Why are these deep power swoons so consistent with him? It's maddening.

    Luck has to be a factor. He could also be a bit of a mental midget. Once it started to come apart on him he just couldn't locate anything anymore. Could also be overuse.

    Everything you say is fair, and there may even be other things that go wrong. But I'm not going to worry before the fact. We just need more things to work out than not to make this team better than it is today and until I have reason to give up on any of those players for this year, I won't.

    We're currently in a playoff spot, and that's with everything that's gone wrong. We are presumably getting back up to 3 starters, an all star catcher, one of our best power bats and perhaps a couple of relievers in the next two to three weeks. One would have to imagine that the best is yet to come. So yeah, I'd say it's going to be okay.

    Yes they're trying to make excuses that it was a kid and somehow a "kid" old enough to throw the ball that hard didn't know any better.

    He's not as good against lefties as he is against righties. He doesn't really have an out pitch against lefties so it makes sense that Baltimore would be the type of lineup that could give him trouble.

    The mask versus mask match yesterday was f***ing epic!

    So did some kid think that a major league outfielder was calling for a ball in the middle of an inning? Either you're too young to understand the game and you don't have the arm to throw the ball like that or you're old enough to understand the game and you're just f***ing stupid.

    I don't know why Ernie is fading on that throw. Plant your foot on the bag and whip it to first. Not that it really matters today.

    Did you intentionally pick two teams that don't technically exist anymore to be ironical?

    The only thing I would have done differently is had Hoffman in the eighth so at least you have Varland to back him up. Going in reverse order left you with no good option.

    I was fine with Hoffman in the ninth. The guy has been nails. Even in the 9th recently. Struck out the first guy and broke him. It just suddenly came apart out of nowhere. Even when he started the struggle, you have a better chance of him finding his stuff before Seabold saving your ass 😂 Oh well, they deserved to win one of the last two games so fair enough. Try to win the series tomorrow.

    Hoffman broke Basallo. He looked uncomfortable on the previous swing.

    4D chess. Gave them a bunch of baserunners and had them all eliminated on double plays to break their spirit.

    The way Hoffman has been throwing, I would've been good with him.

    I don't know if a blue jay has more lives than a cat but we're testing that theory today.
