  1. He's done a very good job of winning these smaller types of margin trades.
  2. The upcoming schedule is deadly from a pitching standpoint, we really need our arms back healthy.
  3. I think there will be a lot less hemming and hawing about the Blue Jays bullpen usage once we start to get healthy guys back this week. The addition of even one starter frees up Spencer Miles to be a regular option and the addition of Nance gives us yet another option. Two more additions will make a big difference to lengthening this pen. I still hold my breath with the Garcia situation though. What the heck happened with Ryan Burr by the way? He dead?
  4. Oh he absolutely might be, if he is it's even more urgent that we try to get rid of him sooner rather than later. If he continues to have a fantastic season I think it's a decision they should make in the off-season. I would at least see what the value is out there.
  5. There's no argument to be made. Varland was not great in the postseason at all. Hoffman was very good actually. Varland was also mediocre in the regular season after they traded for him. People's memories aren't just selective they are flat out creating realities that didn't exist.
  6. We still have Santander, and we'll always have some sort of lumbering meathead who needs the DH spot. It's nice to have the option to have the DH spot available for any lumbering meathead that we want to pick up. Also, it's actually impossible to maximize the value of two two-way players by having them both DH more than they should. You are forcing both players to have less value by doing that. They might do it but I don't think they should.
  7. Which is why one of them would have to go. You're not maximizing either one of their values by playing around with the DH/C spot, and I also don't like tying up the DH spot with guys who can actually play defense. We're better off getting that value somewhere else in a trade. It's a wonderful problem to have, and one that I hope we do end up with.
  8. If his trajectory continues it will force a very interesting decision, likely in the off-season. True number one catchers are an important commodity that a lot of teams don't have. We might have two of them. Both of them have fantastic contractual situations.
  9. f*** Guerrero man, honestly f*** this guy. How come someone so talented be so f***ing stupid? Obviously a history of nobody telling him when he's wrong. Do whatever you want and we'll suck your dick and pay you money.
  10. We're really up against it with our bullpen as currently constructed. Fortunately things should change dramatically in the next week or two.
  11. That's how you play possum boys. Lulled 'em to sleep.
  12. Hopefully Yesavage has figured out where the f*** the strike zone is this time around.
  13. Need to clean up our own yard before I start worrying about the neighbours' yards.
  14. They might give him a chance to get some of his healthy pitchers back, but Schneider might end up on the hot seat here. The mediocrity of the American League is keeping them alive, but that can't last forever.
  15. I think the pitching in particular will be helped with healthy bodies returning, but honestly the offense should be better by now. Yes we are missing Barger and yes we are missing Kirk but their replacements have been hitting decently well. The lineup as it currently is should be better than this.
  16. We just have to believe that Guerrero is going to be better, we have to hope that Springer is not completely washed and the toe injury just disrupted his early season flow and that the offense starts putting it together soon. It's now that we really understand the impact of not having Santander available. Springer's bounce back was covering it up. He's not the greatest thing in the world but if he gets at bats, he hits home runs.
  17. The fact that anyone is seriously discussing DFAing Hoffman is insane. He's had many fantastic outings and a few implosions. He's still one of the best weapons out of the pen not just on our team but in all of baseball.
