  1. Even that shot is a split second too late. His glove is already closed on the ball. His cleat may have been touching when the ball entered the pocket.
  2. It was a lot closer than Buck and Dan made it seem. He may have just been in contact with the bag the moment the ball entered the glove.
  3. Most lineups will involve IKF, KK, Biggio and Varsho. By AL East standards, it'll be a struggle on many days. Against lefties they might be pretty good though.
  4. Nice to see that start from the Ace.
  5. Surely she got lost on her way to the kitchen.
  6. Why is our worst hitter constantly hitting in the middle of the order? Varsho should be no higher than 7th in most lineups. I understand our offense is mostly trash but come on
  7. 31-year-old who's only had a sniff of the major leagues and has stunk. I don't see much changing.
  8. Gotta roll with the strike zone. We can use it to our advantage also.
  9. Guaranteed split at the Trop would be a very nice way to start the season.
  10. First place! Enjoy it while it lasts.
  11. 2021. That was our window. I knew it would probably never get better than that. Two MVP caliber performances, on top of another couple of all star performances and a Cy Young. Should have gone all in but allowed our pitching, particularly relief, to f*** us hard.
  12. I'm right on the fence between 84 and 85 wins. Fourth place in the division and no playoffs is probably the safest bet. Still could be a playoff team if things break their way, I'd say 35% odds we make the playoffs. Competition will be tougher now with the Yankees back in the mix and I wouldn't sleep on Cleveland. Really disappointing off season, as MEH as an off season can get basically, especially given some of the peak excitement for a signing that would've probably been an absolute disaster long term, but a lot of fun short term. Still some FA's out there I'd love to get, but of course we won't. Starting pitching should, mostly, still be very good, but again, we've left ourselves no margin for injuries and ineffectiveness. Didn't cost us last year, we're pushing our luck doing it again. It's bound to bite us. Bullpen isn't spectacular but should still be very good. Offense, likely still substandard. Maybe a bounce back here and there. All in all, I don't expect Vlad to be much more than he's been the past couple of years. Bo will be Bo. I can see a bit of a bounce back for Springer and Kirk also but overall, just okay. Defense should take a step back based solely on losing Chappy. 3rd to 1st throw is the most difficult "routine" play in baseball. We will be hurt by some lousy throws. We are the definition of a competitive team. Not bad enough to ignore, not good enough to strike fear in anybody.
  13. Can the Dodgers kindly let the rest of us know when they're done eating all the good food at the table so we can pick the f***ing scraps?
  14. Merry Christmas! f*** the Dodgers
  15. I would put this offseason firmly in the "s*****" category at the moment.
  16. Yeah but, s*** does start to go wrong when you're fat and stuff. Especially playing on turf. You are absolutely turning the odds against yourself. Injuries are difficult enough to avoid as it is in sports. You don't bet on a young man in this mid-twenties who's a professional trying to make bank and can't motivate himself to get into reasonable physical condition while having unlimited professional resources at his disposal. It's f***ing embarrassing for him or anybody else.
  17. As much of a kick in the nuts as it feels to get turned down by the prettiest girl in school, there's no way that would have ended up being a good contract. Not even a decent contract. We just wanted the feeling of victory on a major free agent, but if we had come close to those dollars and term it would have been a disaster. There are far better ways to spend money, I just hope Rogers allows the Blue Jays to spend the money despite today's news. Double down on spending on great pitching, trade for a bat and get Bellinger.
  18. So, that's that. It never really made sense to pick us over the Dodgers. $700 million; insane.
  19. A) None of the crap that happened on the interwebs yesterday is likely to have any real effect on Ohtani's decision. False speculation and fan overreactions are part of sport. As for Morosi, meh, whatever, I forgive him. Yesterday was fun even if it was much ado about nothing, which it appears to have been. We don't ever get the chance to dream this big with the Blue Jays, I was messaging with friends about the Blue Jays who never talk about the Blue Jays. It's nice to know what that feels like even if we ultimately end up getting kicked in the balls
  20. The funny part is, from a baseball standpoint this probably isn't even a smart signing. You have a guy who's already on his second elbow surgery in a matter of a few years, even when he comes back to pitch, who knows how long he can do both at an elite level, yet he will be paid an enormous sum of money for a significant amount of time based on the assumption that he does both for at least a large portion of that contract. It's also assuming that his body doesn't wear down in general and his ability to hit at a high level also declines rapidly. Yet, everybody wants him, and nobody really cares about such risk in this moment. The anticipation has built to a fever pitch. The pain of rejection would be significant.
  21. So today was ultimately about nothing. Dodgers probably still the favorites lol
  22. My balls can't get any more blue. This needs to end, one way or another.
  23. This has not been a productive Friday at the office...
  24. The first thing I thought after he injured his arm is that he's going to want an opt out after 2 or 3 years. Given the amount of money, that might not end up happening but if he's going to get opt outs, there need to be some clauses in there to benefit the team signing him as well.
