  1. Nope, completely sound and it's been proven that it can work in baseball already. Fans wouldn't revolt just like they already don't revolt when games are shortened for inclement weather or at the baseball classic. The visceral response is purely based on the fact that people aren't used to it. Probably need a more clever team than ours to start the trend though, like Tampa.
  2. Well we do it for rain shortening games, it's only cuz people aren't used to it. They do it at the world baseball classic precisely to protect players. People only have a visceral response to it because they're not used to seeing it but if it became commonplace nobody would care anymore. The logic is completely sound, why are you risking injuries and hurting your future ability to win in a game that is 99.9% decided?
  3. I have mentioned before how major league teams should really considered the idea of forfeiting games instead of killing their bullpen or risking injury to position players because this is just stupid and actively hurts our ability to win future games. Traditionalists get really angry at that idea though. I would do it until MLB stopped me.
  4. Short of injuries the one guy I'm not worried about is him.
  5. Oh stop it, every fan base does the same thing, it's fun, players don't care, people make too much of it. I'm much more concerned about the fact that, you know, we're getting assf***ed by a real team.
  6. Well it's only the first couple of innings of the very first game so it's going to be a story you know?
  7. That's probably The most disheartening case scenario. At least it wasn't a two-run shot. Silver linings.
  8. That's because you're an idiot.
  9. This ought to be good.
  10. Easily triggered today. Time of the month?
  11. That'll just make us look like big babies. There's no way we'll win it anyway. Let's just keep it pushing.
  12. Ohtani was a business decision not a baseball decision. He's a one-of-a-kind unicorn that brings in media and dollars that nobody else would. I don't believe they're going to do something like that again because there's nobody else in baseball like him. He transcends the game. Yankees might lock Soto up before then anyway, I don't mind the idea of the Jays bluffing and forcing the Yankees to up their bid, but I can't see us making a serious offer.
  13. No f***ing kidding. Our front office is not highly thought of by their own fan base.
  14. At least we saved our pen. We're going to need it.
  15. Smells like a whole lot of ********. But let's be honest, we had no chance to come back from a one run deficit.
  16. What is he supposed to say? That's literally what happened. If he was blinded by some sort of light or some sort of bug or debris hit him in the face at that moment or if his webbing broke, he would say that, but if it was just a flat out miss, what more can he say?
  17. Bingo. It's pretty clear that AA wasn't comfortable with whatever Shapiro was selling. AA is no fool.
  18. Because Shapiro ran him off.
  19. Pitching isn't elite. OF defense is, but not pitching. Not like we're the 90's Braves. Our advantage last year was depth and health. We'll see this year, but in the playoffs it's all about the front 3 in the rotation and back 4 in the pen. Depth isn't as much of a weapon anymore. Most playoff teams can match us or at least come pretty close with their frontline pitching come playoff time. It wasn't as much of an advantage last year as people here made it seem despite the teams impressive team ERA. Looks like we're going down a similar path this year.
  20. People just don't get it. This is an okay team, it's just an okay team. This is supposed to be our competitive window and the plan is to hope that enough dominoes fall our way that we squeak into the playoffs as a wildcard and then hope that somehow our inept offense can beat the great offenses that we would have to face in the postseason against pitching that can very easily match ours.
  21. Yeah we've fallen a long ways from the Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin days. Win or lose the games are f***ing dreadful to sit through. This team does not inspire confidence.
  22. It has, it's going to happen sometimes, the terrible offense happens all the time though.
  23. Tough to watch these winnable games slip away because of this terrible offense.
  24. No it's not and nor was the post that I made that got your panties in a bunch. Be gone now.
  25. Yes all the time actually. You took a level-headed post and decided to make it into a war for no reason just because I made it.
