  1. I would take everyone else out of his ear and leave EE in there. Can't possibly make things worse. f*** it, we may be in emergency Cito Gaston territory with Vladdy.
  2. A regular Berrios season does not rise to the level of legit Cy Young candidate. It just doesn't. Even a career year would have to be quite substantially better than his best. I don't think it's reasonable to expect at this point that there's going to be that kind of jump in his pitching, there's nothing to indicate that there will be. That's just objective honesty. That doesn't make him a bad pitcher, he's a pretty consistent, durable and reliable pitcher who helps stabilize the rotation. He's not an ace but guys like him still don't grow on trees, especially these days with all the injuries.
  3. I literally complimented the guy and you still piss and moan.
  4. Berrios is pretty much who he's always been. It's not unthinkable that he might have a career year this year but highly unlikely he becomes a Cy Young candidate. He's a good, reliable mid-rotation 200 inning guy. Happy to have him.
  5. So get rid of him if he's incapable of being at his best without being a closer. We shouldn't be held hostage by a mental midget. I refuse to believe anybody can be that small.
  6. Not necessarily, sometimes the save really does happen in the 9th and that should go to your best reliever. I couldn't give a f*** about Romano's mentality.
  7. No, Yimi gets the real save vs the more difficult part of the lineup and Romano can get the scrubs. I don't care about the save statistic.
  8. He's been lost for a couple of years now. What do people keep waiting for?
  9. I keep waiting for the news of a failed drug test but until then, keep it pushing Yimi!
  10. Bo has consistently shown his value over the years, while I still think he holds himself back with his approach, I give him a lot of runway. Vladdy on the other hand can f*** right off.
  11. I've hardly been one of his apologists over the years but in fairness he might very well have done better than Swanson in that game. The fact remains however that he has never done anything of value at the major level over the course of a season. Little teases here and there, that's it.
  12. That was a waste of a Sunday afternoon.
  13. Stupid bitch. Probably doesn't matter though
  14. Lucky that wasn't worse I guess. Richards not the best option to bring into a jam, just doesn't have good enough command, but our options are thin. They are saving Pearson for the top of the order likely. We have little after that.
  15. Spring is meaningless. Utterly meaningless.
  16. Bassitt was fighting it all day today.
  17. Pulled a rabbit out of our asses there. Make em pay!
  18. As if every fan base is not exactly the same.
  19. Well said, this is what I try to explain to people, especially last year. Pitching depth in the rotation and the bullpen is great in the regular season but in the postseason your front three and back four in the bullpen will primarily determine your success, and when you match up against the other playoff teams a lot of the pitching advantage disappears completely because even if you're 4 and 5 are better, even if you're five six and seven in the bullpen are better, it really doesn't matter much. Trying to win with just pitching and defense won't get it done unless you have multiple aces in your rotation and at least a couple of elite arms in the pen. We don't have this.
  20. I think everything is going pretty much as most expected in general. Pitching mostly pretty good, hitting meh. Brutal division. Gausman is due to rise, Berrios due for a correction in the opposite direction. Kuch is an X-factor, he's got ace potential, but he's got to prove it over a full season. Yariel is another X-factor, is he just a guy or something more? No real surprises otherwise, except maybe Varsho being on a heater, I have no idea if that means anything yet.
  21. They are freak injuries and many of them are because he gets hit by pitches which he's trying to address. You can't go forward with that mentality, he's got to be number one. Kirk should probably play more than the typical backup, specifically because of his framing, but this lineup needs a bit more thump and while I would have preferred better options than this I'd rather have Belt than Vogelbach. Belt could also play some first base to get him in there, Vlad should play less than he does. Obviously with the addition of Turner, Belt still won't play as consistently as last year, but he would play more than he's playing right now.
  22. DH. It's clear at this point that Jano should be starting most games and Kirk should only be a pinch hitter in those games.
  23. Nice to win the series! Could be a tough one tomorrow.
  24. I'm convinced that Brandon Belt slept with Schneider's wife.
