  1. Starting to wonder about this Varsho guy
  2. Although you don't have to catch the ball on an infield fly, the results of the fly ball are still in play, so if the ball hits the ground it could allow the base runners to advance, so catching the fly ball or at least making a play on it still matters. The problem is with the interference rule itself requiring an automatic out of the player interfering. There should be some leeway there for the umpires to make a judgment call. The interference here, which by the way was a truly terrible interference call, did not reasonably change anything because the play was made as expected and nobody advanced on a play that nobody was going to advance on anyway. There's no reason to call the runner out.
  3. I've already started planning World Series watch parties with friends and family. Can't wait to watch another banner hang.
  4. Alex who? Keaton?
  5. How much more value does Vlad have if we trade him with the jacket?
  6. Pump that trade value Vladdy!
  7. Big fly Varsho. Didn't think he got enough of it.
  8. So is this game able to go under the lights or will it be suspended once the sun goes down?
  9. And even with all that going wrong, they still have a better team than we do currently, with more upside. Especially Carroll.
  10. It's not just a matter of bringing up the record and getting back into the mix with the glut of teams that will be competing for the wild card. It's a matter of honestly assessing whether this team has the horses to actually make the playoffs over these other teams and realistically win a world series. There's an opportunity cost, especially for a team that is as thin in the minor leagues as we are, to passing on the chance to sell at the deadline. We are foregoing assets that we would need to build the next core of what is hopefully a contender. Is this core worth that sacrifice? I don't think it is, I think there's too much rot in this core. I think we need to move on.
  11. Would have preferred a quick little sidearm throw instead of the underhand there, but they got out of it.
  12. Knowing Vladdy I can see him being weird enough to fix his swing just to wear the jacket. Nice to have you back by the way. I thought you were done dirty.
  13. What an offensive show!
  14. f***ing heck of a piece of hitting and base running from Varsho.
  15. IKF is who we thought he was.
  16. Before the season began.
  17. I liked the Green deal, if it ends up not working out so be it, it's not going to kill us. Could still end up being a good deal. Either way it's near the bottom of the list as far as concerns go.
  18. Hopefully they both get hot enough to get some real nice pieces back. One or both may end up being MVP candidates somewhere else, but I ain't willing to take the risk with either one of these two.
  19. Indeed the team owes the fans nothing if they get bonked, but I don't agree that it sets a bad precedent. It rarely ever happens that somebody gets hit really bad especially these days with all the netting, I think it's a good faith gesture to your fan base to at least give them an autographed ball or have them meet their favorite Blue Jay or something. It's not really a big ask.
  20. I don't mind the extra wild card spots, I think everybody's goal should be to try to win a world series, and for teams that think they have the horses to do so by all means get in any way you can, but we don't have the horses. So our path to the world series starts with a rebuild. Like I said, the 2021 team made a push and that team had the horses, I would have been very happy for that team to sneak in.
  21. Bingo! Can we not continue spinning our wheels as, at best, a pretty good team? 40% of teams make the playoffs in baseball. It doesn't mean you are special or great. It's one thing if we were a super talented team that just had a cold start or had significant injuries which caused us to have to sneak in as WC3, like we tried to do in 2021, but we are just a mediocre team that would need to get lucky just to get WC3 but have no real shot of winning anything. Thinking otherwise would only delay the inevitable and cost us value with whatever assets we do have to use to build what is hopefully a real future contender.
  22. I don't know why people bothered watching this. I knew it would be a waste of time with softball ********.
