  1. If those rules are only in effect until March 13th - that makes it a bit better IMO. Is that true?
  2. Really? I've never noticed that before if true. COVID cuts? LOL.
  3. Good due diligence in the event of an injury this spring...
  4. What do you guys think about this (new?) rule about just ending innings if pitchers have reached their limit and managers having the ability to schedule 7 inning games or to cut them short if they want. I mean I get it - they don't want to have to rush to get the next pitcher up early if their guy is struggling, but I wonder what it's like for the fans. They are back out buying tickets and supporting the league and now they've taken the sails out of it being a real baseball game. Blue Jays down 4-2 in the 6th with the bases loaded - uber prospect Austin Martin is at the plate....whoops - this pitcher sucks, just cancel the inning. I've been to a ton of spring training games and I know you don't go to watch a 'good baseball' game. It's more about the atmosphere, autographs/meeting players and just enjoying a relaxing day. I don't think anyone really enjoys innings 8 and 9 anyway. I'm totally cool with the changes because I get it - but I have to wonder if some % of fans are like WTF is this? Why am I paying to go watch this? They have 183 people in camp - get someone warm and play the inning through.
  5. After seeing Ray throw 24 of 26 pitches for strikes the other day - a friend asked me - is there a strategy or philosophy on how many pitches you should throw for strikes? I thought it was an interesting question. I mean for Ray who has great stuff - I suspect the answer is throw as many strikes as you can. But for a control pitcher like Ryu, does anyone know if he strategically tries to throw a certain % outside the strike zone? I suspect there are so many variables that it would be difficult to game plan for such a thing. Curious if anyone had thoughts.
  6. anyone watch Hunter Greene last night? https://www.mlb.com/video/hunter-greene-reaches-100mph 101, 102, 103 MPH to start the game. He got lit up, but good to see him back on the mound. I don't know who approved both teams wearing red jerseys, but they have done it a few days in a row now and it looks ridiculous.
  7. That blows - SWR and Manoah are both pitching I think.
  8. BR - we need you to post more. I miss all your prospect knowledge.
  9. Orelvis Martinez is 19 years old and has played 40 games in rookie ball.
  10. Imagine having the 1st overall pick and ended up with Moniak. Devastating for the organization and fans.
  11. That's hilarious, but to be fair to Angel - that pitch looked down from that angle. and I f***ing hate Angel.
  12. http://www.buckblunders.com/ https://tipofthetower.com/2016/04/08/toronto-blue-jays-pat-bucks-dimwitisms ________________________________________ Sorry - I may no longer have time to contribute to this board. I've found my new calling in life.
  13. Asking Buck to change how he broadcasts would just give him something else to bitch about. I can hear him now talking about how the game was better when teams had TV and radio broadcasters and how all these numbers are ruining the game he once loved.
  14. It's the new balls! The dead ball era started today.
  15. He speaks to the primary market, which is 40+ old white guys who love old school baseball and hate anyone who wants to change the game or show emotion. He's f***ing brutal.
  16. Exactly - I can't stand it. I still think we need a dedicated thread just to quote all the f***ing stupid things he says throughout a season. It would be overwhelming to keep up with though.
  17. There's a ton of nostalgia and history with radio broadcasts. I suspect this is a sign of the times though. It saddens me more than it probably should. Guess we'll have to see what it sounds like before getting too upset. I typically just have it on in the background when I'm outside with the kids or doing some yard work. I'll tune in if I'm driving while a game is on too - but it's mostly just background noise, so I suspect it won't make much difference to me.
  18. Really? I can't imagine there isn't capacity at that facility for their AA to train there once spring training is over...
  19. Wow - this is a big change. Does anyone know if other teams do this? So much for muting the TV and listening to the radio to by-pass Buck Martinez.
  20. I think that all makes sense - however, it's a bit sad that it would take minor league baseball from communities who've had it an supported it for all these years. Not sure how it would work if multiple teams play out of one center. Maybe that's more desirable for fans in those select destinations? How cool would it be to retire in Dunedin and be able to choose which team (A, AA, AAA) you go watch each week?
  21. Mark needs to buzz off the hair...it's time bruh.
  22. The training faciality and TD Ballpark are at two different locations right? While looking for that answer, I found this site that has a couple of awesome, longer videos showing all the improvements. https://www.milb.com/dunedin/ballpark/renovations TD Ballpark capacity increased from 5,500 to 8,500 - new air conditioned bar down the right field line, new 360 degree boardwalk around the outfield. This is awesome. I wasn't fully aware of all these improvements. I've been to Dundin a few times, and to many other stadiums in Florida and Dunedin's was always one of, it not clearly the shittiest. This is now reason to make the drive up (2 hrs) to show my kids.
