  1. Upon further review - she is correct. I think I had this image ingrained in my head...
  2. f*** Tim Anderson. How does he still have a BABIP over .400 (did last year too) without hitting the ball that hard? Freeman's making a push for NL MVP - after recovering from a bad bout of COVID too. Mookie still there also.
  3. If deGrom wins his 3rd straight Cy Young award this year at age 32 - how many more WAR does he need to reach the HOF? If he remains dominant (5-7 WAR per year) for 3 more years through age 35 and then slowly declines (10 WAR combined for the rest of his career), he'll end up around 60 career WAR. Is that enough? Anyone else notice his fastball velo is up about 1.5 MPH this year? Incredible.
  4. He may not be smart - but he's a future superstar if he stays healthy.
  5. I think you've grossly underestimated how gorgeous Kliff is.
  6. Joe Borrow v. Baker Mayfield Gotta get the #1 pick (and the former #1) some prime time. Plus there's a chance to make Cleveland Steamer jokes.
  7. That's an awesome move IMO. Replicate (closer) to a regular season scenario. Bring strategy into the game instead of the same 3-4 arms being used out of the bullpen every night.
  8. That doesn't mean your comment wasn't reactionary and moronic.
  9. Ask Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch why they can't throw to first as ML 2nd basemen...
  10. the 140 wRC+ is the reason he's in the lineup.
  11. Did the current ownership sign the lease? or did someone else buy the franchise and inherit it?
  12. I started this s*** show. Perhaps I should have clarified that I really respect what the FO is able to do. They are put in an incredibly s***** situation year in and year out (as you noted) - horrible stadium, no fans, no budget, AL East - yet they continue to find ways to be competitive. It's really astonishing to be honest. I applaud their ability to think outside the box and continue to win instead of just tanking to get draft picks like the Padres, Astros, etc. I personally don't give a f*** if 'traditional' baseball is changing and if some old farts and stubborn players don't like it. If you choose tradition over winning - you're a f***ing loser. Ownership and the franchise in general is a complete s*** show - but the on-field product really is remarkable.
  13. Holy f*** - it sure doesn't. So disappointing. Here's a video of his debut....still MUCH smaller. Check out the 1:38 mark. Batting practice HR off a fans face...and then they replay it in slow motion!
  14. Kirk will be my science experiment. We have (at least) two obese players on the team now. One is a trust fund baby who's career success will have little to no impact on his quality of life. The other (presumably) doesn't. Will the one who comes from nothing have the internal drive to improve his habits and transform his body as required to get the absolute out of his career? Will the trust fund baby fail to reach his potential? Or will their families financial situation play little to no part in all of this. Time will tell.
  15. explain? and while I used to love fantasy baseball - I no longer bother with it and thus the frustrations as a fantasy owner are invalid reasons.
  16. agreed - this is really bad for baseball. I was rooting for the A's a bit too (unless they played the Jays of course)
  17. Somewhere inside you - you have to love the Rays a little bit. I know I do.
  18. Blue Jays released RHP Jake Petricka. Petricka has been at the team's alternate training site all season. The Jays also added Orelvis Martinez to their 60-man player pool.
  19. I kinda like connorp posting on the main board now
  20. Fair enough - but in terms of Teo - he's raked since returning to the big club in the middle of last year. The sample size is larger. Same with LGJ....they are both looking legit. We'll need to see more of Tellez of course, but the K% and BB% took a huge step in the right direction this year and I'm told those both stabilize relatively quickly.
  21. The boo'ing during the moment of silence was a nice touch last night. Classy.
  22. 15,895 To be honest, it seemed totally feasible to have that many fans in the stadium. 22% of their capacity or something? Chiefs are such a delight to watch.
  23. Of course - I'd like to see Jansen start hitting too. The good news is Teo, LGJ & Tellez all look like they might be legit pieces too.....it's still super early, but even Fisher is showing signs of life.
  24. Hit the nail on the head. That said - here is how I've rationalized it. We had 2 stud prospects coming up to the majors. Vlad and Bo. Then we had Cavan who put himself on the prospect map after changing his approach and raking in 2018...but he was anything but a sure thing. Bo has become what we hoped Vlad would be.....he's a young superstar Cavan has become what we hoped Bo would be.....he's a young star Vlad has become what we probably could have expected from Cavan.....young, but still figuring it out. If you close your eyes and change the names - the results aren't far off from where my expectations were in early 2019.....and there's obviously still a chance that Vlad figures it out and becomes Miggy/Ortiz/Fielder
