  1. Who would you guys have rather had? Musgrove or Stripling if the price was Williams?
  2. That applies if you believe that controlling hard contact is a skill.
  3. Don't publicly shame the internal optimists. We got Hatch for nothing last year and we liked how that felt!
  4. Everyone spooging over Hatch and s***ing on Font is probably due for a rude awakening. Hatch has a 90.2 LOB% and a BABIP of .114, which is artificially leading to a lot of success early this year. He's the polar opposite of Font. Hatch's FIP, xFIP, K% and BB% are all worse than Font. The season is so short that there may not be time for these stats to normalize, but there's still a decent chance that Font is better than Hatch from today through to the end of the season. And just so we're clear - I love Hatch and kinda hate Font too.
  5. I don't think anyone is pretending Villar will be better defensively than Shaw (who's quite good). They are looking at the overall package, which has seen Shaw post a -0.1 WAR this year as a 74 wRC+ hitter. It looks like we'll continue to give Shaw a starting gig (which I believe was promised to him when he signed) until Bo comes back. If he hasn't figured it out at the plate by then, than there's probably a good chance Villar will take starts away from him.
  6. I'm with you on this one Grant. We've been on the same page the past 2 days.
  7. He's right though. Athletic stories get posted here all the time by those with accounts.
  8. Interesting - I really like Musgrove.
  9. I'm not sure how you can call him a f***ing moron when you have no idea who's call that is. I've questioned this a few times...is it really Charlie, or is it the high performance team / FO making some of these calls. You think Charlie is in charge of establishing pitch counts? like f***.
  10. McGuire's never hit. Very few players hit like s*** in AA and then sudden become average ML hitters.
  11. He's f***ing glorious to watch when he's on top of his game.
  12. Archie Bradley and Brian Goodwin to the Reds. Bauer isn't getting moved.
  13. Of course they aren't right 100% of the time - neither is the eye test. It's about using the data to increase the probability of being right. FFS - yesterday he left Roark in when the stats probably told him it was a stupid move - and guess what? Roark got f***ing LIT UP and we almost lost the game. I suspect upper management may have had a little chat with him and told him to f*** off. If not, he may just be a little gun shy himself. I'm surprised there's so much outrage today, less than 24 hours after we were in the exact same situation and left the starter in to get lit up. There's also been a lot of outrage over using Font with inherited runners on base - claims about how he needs a clean inning like last year. We gave him that today with similar s***** results. Armchairs everywhere boys. Advanced stats suggest Font's just been really unlucky this year also.
  14. Font is basically the exact same guy he was last year. He's just had awful luck this year. BABIP of like .469 and a LOB% of like 45% In a short season - there's no time for bad luck.
  15. Damn - that was going to be my guess! I think I'm OK with it. Not sure Conine ever makes enough contact to contribute at the ML level.
  16. Most would suggest that selling the farm to 'go for it' as the 8th and final seed isn't the best decision. I guess you disagree.
  17. The reverse jinx - BR, you're a f***ing legend around here. Don't you ever apologize for playing 4D chess. Don't be the Tatis of the BJMB.
  18. We get it. You don't like the trade and have little to no concept of why the Jays would make a low risk, high reward move like this. It's pretty evident to everyone (except you) that there's a very high probability that Ray sucks and doesn't help the team this year. However, there's also a chance he regains previous form and can really help them down the stretch and into the playoffs. At the cost of Travis Bergen, this is a risk you take.
  19. Playing in the AAA Buffalo stadium should help our cause. Maybe he likes chicken wings?
  20. can you remind me of when he doesn't?
  21. How has he gone from a sub 10% K rate to 24%?
