  1. Touche. What a dynamic player he was through age 26. Then it all kind of went downhill.
  2. Is that you Buck? It simply isn't true. Velocity has give MLB so many more quality arms. Go look at the results v. high velo. If a feel for pitching was producing top results, we'd see all kinds of pitchers throwing 89 with 2 seam movement, hitting corners.
  3. Buck sure is hell bent on pushing the narrative that velocity is bad and a feel for pitching is more important. I mean - I wish that was true, but it's not.
  4. Yet I'm the insufferable one this board Sale has thrown like 170 innings combined since 2019.
  5. FFS - I wasn't trying to suggest our SPing depth was fantastic. There is a narrative around here from some that suggests the FO always fails to address the teams SPing depth because we don't have a stable of studded prospects and/or provide veteran starters to fill in when injuries happen. I was just trying to point out that the SPing depth on other, very good teams, like the Braves, was really no different than what the Jays have.
  6. Not according to several on here. They didn't think Romano and Swanson should have been called up together, knowing they can't pitch B2B yet (even though Swanson never did pitch B2B). They wanted them worked in during low leverage situations (which is always ideal) and were pissed that they didn't have our lights out, 0.00 ERA Nate Pearson available to shut the door on the Yanks. To be fair, I do think people are still holding out some glimmer of hope that Pearson can become a lockdown RP (me included, as optimism is my thing). The SD game was a reminder that he simply isn't there yet, is inconsistent as f*** and still struggles in high leverage situations....and perhaps why having Swanson on the roster over Pearson was the FO's preference - even if he hadn't pitched in a regular season game yet and was rusty. It may also explain why they kept Cabrera over Pearson. They weren't fooled by Pearson's early success...
  7. Oh FFS. After the Pearson meltdown, I started the discussion by taking a shot at those who were furious that Swanson was recalled and then allowed to try and close the game v. the Yankees instead of Pearson. There were several people suggesting that was a major FO blunder, who were acting like Pearson was some lockdown fireman. There are multiple add on comments about that topic and then you say "Pearson being better than Genesis Cabrera was the complaint, not that Pearson was a lockdown reliever." You may have complained that Cabrera was kept over Pearson, but that was 100% not the dominant narrative during/after that Yankees game, nor is it what anyone else was talking about. Keeping Pearson up and sending down Cabrera wouldn't have helped at all in that Yankees game. For what it's worth, I don't really disagree. I think Genesis sucks balls; however, I suspect Pearson also sucks balls. But that isn't what we were all talking about.
  8. I still find it insane that a former SS prospect can be so awful with the glove.
  9. This is not true at all. Cabrera gave us 2 gutsy innings v. the Yankees. It was 100% that we had to use Swanson to close the game and didn't have the elite fireman, Nate Pearson on the team to close when we knew Romano couldn't go B2B and Swanson 'obviously' wasn't ready for high leverage - because his AAA numbers sucked. Please try to keep up.
  10. You know who's also garbo? Darius Vines and Allan Winans (the other depth starter that Atlanta has had to turn to this year), along with most of the starting pitching depth on good teams.
  11. Orelvis and Barger are both making legitimate pushes to earn a callup. No obvious playing time at the ML level just yet, but it's certainly encouraging to see. I guess you could replace Voggy and then cut down KK or Springer's playing time - but I don't see doing that just yet.
  12. He's what SP'ing depth actually looks like on other good teams.....
  13. For all those who suggest the Jays have no pitching depth and the FO did such a s***** job of creating depth...the Braves are starting Darius Vines for a 2nd game tonight. 26 year old pussballer. Also can't believe AA traded away Contraras (even if Murphy is good) and the Dodgers just gave away Busch. Wow. It's almost like even very good GM's aren't perfect. Interesting.
  14. He may have, but there was obviously a decent probability he wouldn't have. People were acting like he was a lockdown RPer.
  15. What a colossal mistake by JS and this FO to send Pearson down in the Yankees series.
  16. 24th in baseball in offensive WAR
  17. What is wrong with you? A well respected member praises me out of the goodness of his heart. I acknowledge it and you decide to attack me for no reason? I may challenge you and others but I always try to explain my position like a civilized person. I've been posting here regularly since 2013 (I believe) and only recognize you from the past 3-4 years. What happened in your life to make you the way you are?
  18. He's been incredible this year. Gotta love it. Love the way he plays
  19. Why thank you kind sir. It's always nice to hear my contributions are appreciated.
  20. yep - Ross pays me to fend off the tampon trolls. I used to it tryout some of the new food options at the dome on Wednesday. That Chungchun half mozzarella dog was pretty good, but I enjoyed the dog side more than the cheese side. Would just get the full dog in the future.
  21. Probably 2026, if ever. Should have traded him Atkins. We just can't have nice things around here. 2 of the top pitching prospects in baseball and we'll be lucky if either become a lockdown setup man in a Blue Jays uniform.
  22. Unlikely. I'd probably ask him how Martinez went from coaching a Top 5 offense in baseball in 2021 and 2022 to being a completely useless coach in 2023 and 2024. I'd ask him if he thought coaches peak and then start to decline? Surely to god nobody supports a moron like this. The man in this video is a great example of a person with the emotional intelligence of a tampon. He's what I picture most of the nut jobs on the GTD looking and sounding like to be honest.
  23. We're also top 8 in BB% & K%, while being bottom 3rd in BABIP (which is going to drag down R, OPS, RISP, etc.). The lack of power so far is concerning - no doubt about that. Fortunately, things like RISP average are very fickle and subject to a lot of luck.
