    Here's a simple idea. Just remove that word from your vocabulary. I mean, you can continue to use that word and try to put it in some context that you think is acceptable, but it's inevitable that some may not see that context, or may not care what context it's used in and will take offense to it. I don't think it's such a powerful word that you NEED to continue using it. Some seem hellbent on "saving" words that they used to use - simply because they don't want people who are offended by those words to "win". It's a stupid fight. It doesn't take a lot of effort to just stop using words that offend people. It's a minor inconvenience when you think of all the suppression of certain groups over the past 50-80 years. Evolution of our society is a good thing. Welcome back!

    Sorry - I think we're mis-communicating. I read "To believe the lawyer crafted the second story strikes me as a little naive" as in we're naive to believe that Ohtani's lawyer crafted the 2nd story.....I think you're suggesting we're naive if we believe the second story (that the lawyer obviously crafted). I don't think many (any?) actually believe the 2nd story is 100% true. I think most know it was crafted by his lawyer to protect Ohtani. I think it's pretty obvious they had to change the initial story because there were components of it that could have gotten him into a lot of trouble.....that's why the lawyer was brought in and that's why the 2nd story was created.

    I really wish we had someone with the time to provide even weekly updates on the results of our prospects in the minors, including an update on their overall numbers. Did TL used to do that for us? or was it King? Whomever it was, I miss them. It was amazing. If the big league club is going to suck, at least we can get updates on the future.

    Jim - can you establish the rules about whom we're allowed to post lines about and display some level of optimism? Is Gruber allowed to talk about some 26 year old AAA prospect?

    What makes you say that? I believe it's quite common that once lawyers get involved, the tell their clients what to say to help get them out of it. It also seems plausible that the interpreter has access to Ohtani's account (he's more than an interpreter - more of a personal assistant) and that the interpreter lied about how much money he needed to cover the debts and took more than Ohtani authorized.

    But "it's early" Term. Atkins didn't do one thing to improve the offense we had last year and it wasn't good enough last year therefore, there's no chance it could be better this year.

    Man - what an emotional moment. I must admit I was rooting for the Red Sox back in 2004 (I was still more a White Sox fan than a Jays fan at that time - which paid off nicely in 2005). So many great players on that team - finally breaking the curse.
