    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/daulton-varsho-is-cleaning-up-his-process/ That article mentions that Varsho's swing decisions actually improved last year, despite the poor results. It also talks about adjustments to the approach angles in his swing. If the swing decisions continue to improve, that's probably HUGE for Varsho moving forward. Positive stuff.

    Add Justin Turner to the list (albeit that was years ago). Do you even know whether it was the Dodgers or a private instructor worked with those hitters to change their swings? A lot of major changes like that happen in the offseason and it often isn't the club who's responsible for it. Do the Jays get credit for fixing Varsho? Turning Teo into a silver slugger? Developing Bo? Making Espinal an all-star? The answer is - we don't really know who did what, so it's hard to blame or assign praise.

    That's fair, but you have to play within the rules you have at the time. You're a results guy, you can't just mix up your views to suit your narrative.

    Call up Orelvis and DH him. Play Turner at 1st base daily. Problem solved.

    This is CERTAINLY circumstantial evidence, but the spring training game I watched Holliday, he was overswinging at everything and looked awful. Obviously I have a trained eye of a 30 year scout, but I didn't think he looked ready myself.

    Elly is tied with Varsho right now....so that means Varsho is ALSO on pace for 11 WAR

    Bellinger didn't get released. He was non-tendered and then got $17.5M on a 1 year deal on the open market. If you were thinking of putting Vlad on waiver right now, with the intent of just letting him go for nothing - that would be STUPID. Some team is going to be willing to pick up Vlad's current contract to see if they can fix him - or see if a change of scenery helps. They can then decide to go through the arbitration process at the end of the year, or non-tender him (if they think he's s***). What would we get for him? I still think you'd get a legit prospect.

    Yeah - OL is never very exciting, especially since he isn't a top pick who fell to them or anything. Pack like his versatility. I thought Cooper DeJean may have been the play there - although they may have a shot to land him in Round 2 (which would be a huge steal). I think they're looking at DB and LB today. DB DeJean TJ Tampa Nubin LB Payton Wilson Edgerrin Cooper I do wonder if they'd consider grabbing Jer'Zhan Newton at 41 if he's still there (and DeJean is gone). They could use another DL. 41 - Newton 58 - Hicks/Nubin/Bishop or Wilson/Cooper 88 - Cole Bishop (if the go LB at 58) Jaylen Wright (RB) could also be a target in Round 3 as "lightning" guy to pair with Jacobs (the thunder)

    A guy near me is selling an Orelvis Martinez certified signed ball for $55. Should I buy it? Kid could be a stud! What improvements over the past 2 years. Clean up the foot work at 2nd and he could be special. Is he back as a Top 40 prospect in baseball? Is he Top 30?

    You said they aren't highly thought of by their peers. What you really mean, is they weren't voted to be a Top 5 FO by 40 random peers (which I've never seen anyone claim or suggest). What you said was misleading. That's what Spanky is saying.

    jaysblue has shown nothing to suggest he would have supported AA between 2010-2014 (outside of giving him some leeway early on). He would have been calling for his head up until the 2015 all-star break. AA literally traded away half our prospect capital to land Reyes, Buehrle, Johnson and Bonifacio - only to go on and finish last place in 2013.

    You mean pitchers with a feel for pitching, who can use a large arsenal of pitches often struggle at the ML level? Shocking! CD - are you and Buck paying attention?

    I tend to agree. Bo has been too good at hitting for too long for me to believe the league just finally figured out how to get him out (to the point he's no longer a 120+ wRC+ hitter). That said - what Laika described seems to be 100% his approach. I wonder if he simply needs to use that approach when he's behind in the count, or at least with 2 strikes, but he simply needs to be a little more aggressive earlier in the count. And maybe that's what he's trying to do, but is struggling with his timing right now? I don't know, but I'm not concerned about his bat just yet.

    I think there's a real possibility this happens, with Barger/Schneider getting more time in the OF.
