  1. This seems obvious...
  2. Varsho made adjustments to the angle of his bat to help adjust the steepness of his attack angle this year.
  3. Multiple people complaining about a 89 win season last year is pretty funny.
  4. This team has been cooked for months guys. I'm enjoying watching Horwitz, Leo, the Vlad resurgence, the SPers, Springer and Varsho. I'd love to see some new arms come up from AAA. It's insane how f***ing awful those guys have been when the door is now wide open for them.
  5. I mean - I'm sure they are, but most teams suck at some element. I'm sure the 2021/22 Blue Jays offense was f***ing furious at the bullpen and defense too.
  6. Maybe he's part of the package we receive when we send Bo, Kikucci and Garcia to the Dodgers at the deadline...
  7. I guess? But I think John gets a daily report that identifies who's available and who's not. Atkins could have an influence on that and through discussions with the HP team, have labelled Green as a "RED" for the day - so John has no choice. I think there's also a possibility they've had internal discussions, acknowledged this is a lost season, told John they won't fire him in-season and have all agreed to adjust how they play the remaining games out.
  8. If I recall correctly, Green was a "yellow" pitcher in the 2nd game v. the Mariners and the broadcast team was surprised to see him come into the game. I suspect they wanted to give him a couple of days off after having to use him. He's a good trade piece and these games don't matter, so there's no reason to push Green last night.
  9. Ouch, he's been awful too. He's had a lot of injuries to battle through as well, which may be catching up to him.
  10. Apparently. Odd to see the Dodgers unable to develop that huge arm correctly.
  11. His swing speed has increased dramatically as of late. The # of swings >75 MPH went from like 15% to 30% over his recent hot streak. Swing hard and do damage approach.
  12. There is a history of 2nd basemen falling off a cliff around Age 32. Not saying Semien is done, but there is a chance that age is catching up.
  13. Volpe's bat has gone into a real tailspin. 95 wRC+ on the season now. Semien too.....88 wRC+
  14. I heard them talking yesterday that Horwitz likes playing 2nd better and feels his bat gives him a chance to be an all-star at 2nd base. He said when he plays 1st base, he tries to hit for more power, which probably isn't best for his production. It seems almost unheard of for someone who played just 18 games at 2nd base in his minor league career (and never played SS or 3rd) to step in and be a passible 2nd baseman almost immediately. Pretty impressive stuff.

The Oilers became the blueprint for "running it back"
  16. That's what I was thinking. He can earn more playing time with good play, but I think he's back to the point he has to earn it again.
  17. I just thought he was going for a swim on hot, humid weekend. Seemed positive to me.
  18. Comparing Bo to Baez offensively is a joke. Whiff and K percentages aren't in the same area code. Both chase and are free swingers - but Bo's contact skills are a massive difference.
  19. He's now at a 101 wRC+. He came out of nowhere and I think there's a decent chance he's not a starter at the ML level. I'm not saying I'd put him on the short side of a platoon, but I'd be looking to playing him in favorable matchups until he gets it turned around. I still want him starting say 4-5 times a week. He may optimally be a 400-500 PA utility guy.
  20. Does this belong in the Positivity Thread?
  21. What an incredibly fun game! Springer with the big shot to tie it, Varsho comes thru in the clutch and a BUNCH of gutsy performances from the bullpen.
  22. Point being that Schneider was slumping and hadn't been playing well for the last few weeks. Fans ripping the Manager/FO for giving Schneider a few days off was stupid. They may consider going back to starting him in "good matchups" like they did as the start of the year - as that produced the best results (even though fans also though that was stupid).
  23. Man - it's fun to watch Vlad when he's hot. Great to see Springer getting hot. This may be why the team stuck with their vet.
  24. I just heard them say on the broadcast that IKF is using a new approach this year - trying to catch that ball out in front and hit it with authority to the pull side. This would seemingly go against the theory that some believe Donnie Baseball is implementing a "use all fields, let the ball travel, put the ball in play" approach for all/most players.
