  1. Oh Pillar, that's another good one and Delabar did seem to act strange around the demotion. Don't get me wrong, AAA has got to suck major ass compared to MLB but what exactly have any of these guys done to earn "never demote" status? Verry little IMO.
  2. If I'd hazard a guess, I'd say Gose although I can certainly see Romero and maybe even Dan Johnson having a gripe. The average professional athletes is an entitled jerk so take your pick really.
  3. I know the feeling you've described. The feeling of seeing a pitcher better. I don't belive it is predictive of future results no matter how convincing it feels. Over time statistics bare this out. Individual batter pitcher matchups have basically no predictive value. You just have to silence the subjective experience no matter how counter-intuitive that is.
  4. Yes I have played baseball and you knew full well that Lind wasn't hurt again. You were just baiting like you didn't know full well why he was benched.
  5. Gibbons managing to the platoon split not the small sample size. Nothing to see here.

  7. Yes not every prospect is so fortunate to raise his stock by that much. Beede, for instance, got drafted right around the same time and a lot of prospects do much much worse than that.
  8. Honest question... What gives Kevin Barker credibility?
  9. I was going to argue that the 2011 draft was pretty brutal but that's not looking nearly as bad now as it once did thanks principally to Norris breaking out and making up for the players drafted ahead of him. Aaron Nola in the 24th looks pretty prophetic now. Shame the later didn't sign. http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=tor&year=2011
  10. Roark is on the table if anyone wants to offer a positional player of similar age/value.
  11. Good on Bautista. I think the lineup is better off with Reimold in there instead of Dan Johnson. As an added bonus, it makes Wilner look like a tool for talking up Johnson.
  12. Didn't realize that, I figured if he wasn't at 1B, he'd be DHing and pushing Lind to 1B.
  13. Wouldn't he be playing the OF if he wasn't?
  14. I think they are wrong. There are ten participants. Each captain has named three, they will name another today plus themselves that makes 5 per team for a total of ten. http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2014-07-08/home-run-derby-2014-roster-players-participants-all-star-game-puig-jones-stanton
  15. Great org. Great system. Well positioned for the future. What happens this season really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things especially since they won the World Series last year. Nobody should complain about Cherrington's luck evening out a bit after that but M*******s gonna M*******.
  16. I know Moogy is quite the contrarian but he obviously wasn't being serious. Whatever you may think of Mookie, Trout is a generational talent. It's just not reasonable to expect another player like that for well... another generation. Even Moogy wouldn't try to argue otherwise.
  17. Don't know if A is true. Don't know if B follows from A. Don't know s*** about Jimenez and his ability to do anything really.
  18. Whatever value he has is tied to his defence. A 700 OPS as a 24 year old in AAA doesn't really move the needle but it's fine if it's tied to a very good defensive game. Hard to know how good minor league catcher defense really is. We didn't hear boo about Gomes defense when he was in the minors and turns out he's an elite catcher.
  19. The appeal of signing Melky is that with no one ready in the system, the alternative is the open market or trades and we've seen how well the Jays do with those. I'd still prefer to take my chances and offer nothing more than a q.o. but I wouldn't be surprised if the Jays went with the devil they know.
  20. Very SSS but it at least makes you wonder if the Yankees gave up more than we thought they did.
  21. I guess it depends on how you define pride. Seems like an extremely prideful player to me.
  22. It's not that they're might not be a good deal for Melky out there. It's just that a team can only afford to field so many defensively limited players. You'll have EE at first, you'll have Lind at DH and maybe a 2nd DH to platoon with him. So in a vaccuum it's might be a good deal for Melky but in the larger context, I don't think it works.
  23. Please no... The Jays can't keep fielding a team full of DHs. It's nice for the team to finally get a contribution from him this season but it would best to cut losses when it's done. Most I'd ever give him is a q.o. and even that's not definitive. Need to see how the rest of the season plays out.
  24. That's a pretty big positive. Pretty much any contribution from players not named Bautista or Encarnacion is big at this point. You're not going to get clean play from this team even when they are at their best. That's a stupid expectation and like hitting in RISP a pretty flawed way of evaluating a team's performance anyways.
  25. Yeah I don't think anyone saw that train wreck coming. He seemed like he could be if nothing else a 2nd division regular. Too bad he wasn't traded before he got much worse then that. Edit: O.K. Hurl saw it coming but I think most people who didn't like him still never imagined he would set records for offensive ineptitude.
