  1. The Jays lost Perez when they decided not to move him back on to the 40 man from the 60 day DL before the November 20 deadline.
  2. Again, my understanding is that the are taken off the 60 day DL before November 20. Once the Rule 5 draft has concluded, they can be placed on the 60 day DL again but you can't use the 60 man DL to hide players from the Rule 5 draft. That's why there's a cut-off.
  3. I'm actually pretty sure it doesn't apply. You have to activate everyone you have on your 60 day DL or DFA them. You can't stash someone on the 60 day DL all the way through the off season.
  4. DL doesn't apply in the off-season but I do believe you can retro-date DL stints to spring training.
  5. Been watching baseball for 30 years and somehow never bothered to look into that.
  6. If he goes beyond 15, it's not considered a second stint.
  7. Even days when the whole league if off like the All-Star break?
  8. If EE went on the DL, I'd probably just play Lind everyday at 1B and not even bother with Dan Johnson.
  9. Well he could be Tolleson 2.0. in that he can play the infield and outfield and bat from the right-hand side with the difference being that Tolleson is an infielder who can play the OF in a pinch and he's a CF who can play the infield in the pinch. It's nice that he can fill the Tolleson role if the later is out but the real answer is a true everyday player to play 2B or 3B.
  10. Is this sarcastic? I honestly don't know s*** about McKinney.
  11. That would be pretty hard to do. At least on paper, it's an excellent haul. Russell might be a bit overrated but Straily is probably very underrated at this point and the overall package was strong.
  12. They are not sea creatures anymore. They are the the rays that radiate from his majesty the sun.
  13. FFS. It's a performance measure. He wasn't implying that it translates perfectly to wins on the field. It's just a way of saying he's two years away from a season where he provided exceptional value. A short-hand if you will.
  14. It definitely makes more sense if the team has definitely turned the page on Morrow (which I guess was your original point). Should what Morrow does between now and the end of the season change anything? Probably not. He would still have the injury history hanging over him and he probably won't be that impressive on the mound anyways. A funny thing happened while everyone was waiting for Morrow to fulfill his potential. He got older and crappier. It's a bit like Overbay. He came back from a major injury just in time for father time to rob him of his skills.
  15. Yeah Gose is f***er. All that raw skill. At times he looks like a total game changer and you can see why Fangraphs once considered him the Jays top prospect and at other times, he just looks like a guy who will be a perpetual dissapointment. I still think there's a chance he will be a late bloomer. If he could at least play up to his potential on defense, he wouldn't have to do too much otherwise to be valuable.
  16. Yeah the bigger issue is that they roster a player for which they find so little use. This team has not done a good job of getting value out of the bench. Lots of players with very limited utility have sat there.
  17. I usually think it's a mistake to put too much stock on what a guy does when you see him in person rather then what they've done in their carreer (see AA going to Japan to scout Darvish) but Headley is a guy you would definitely have to scout to evaluate his physical fitness. If he can still give you great defense at 3B, it's a great play because at worst he fills a hole and any offensive regression you get is gravy. Potentially a lot of gravy.
  18. I'm not crazy about committing a 2015 rotation spot to a back end starter at this point. Kind of reminds of the Happ deal where you get a head start on limiting your options for the next season. If there was a similar guy you could get as a two month rental, I'd prefer that. McCarthy?
