  1. Gose is a frustrating player to be sure. His game is a mess but at least he has skills. What does Glenn have?
  2. Stupid on who? AA? I don't think Hill would have a say in whether or not the Jays trade for him.
  3. That's the funny thing. This personal catcher business would be so much easier to justify if Dickey were pitching well but there's really nothing about Dickey's performance that justifies this indulgence.
  4. Wouldn't it be ironic if Dikey has more success throwing to Kratz? This obsession with maintaining this battery intact despite underwhelming results is really strange and innefective roster management. I wonder how much of Dickey's value is lost by carrying Thole? It's probably more than enough to cancel out the Dickey effect.
  5. Yeah this is a tough crowd. Although we all follow the Jays a lot of us aren't really what you would consider "homers". You misjudged your audience a bit with the blatant self promotion but I can't blame you for not expecting a backlash. You seem to be decent guy and you're talking it pretty well all things considered. I hope you'll stick around. It's not all snickering and bickering. There's some good conversation and laughs too.
  6. Bradd Glenn may be right-handed but he doesn't really bring much to the table. I'd rather the guy who can play CF and provide some speed even if he is left-handed.
  7. Had second thoughts after dropping him. He's still kind of intriguing. Success in the Mark Buehrle mode is an unlikely career path and not the best recipe for fantasy relevance either but there are signs that he might pull it off.
  8. Getting Nicolino for Vogelbach is looking like a pretty bad trade.
  9. Posting your own video with the title A MUST WATCH!! is pretty trollish. No reason to sympathize with the OP here.
  10. That's one way of looking at it I suppose but Colon and the Roger's Centre seem like a very poor fit.
  11. Eleven million for Colon's 2015? I think I'd pass on that.
  12. Humm... This happens to me when I make an add but usually a change only applies to that day unless my roster wasn't set for the next day in the first place.
  13. Mastro. Glenn should be the one demoted for Cecil. Mastro is way more useful to this team than Glenn especially with Rasmus injured and Bautista DHing.
  14. Sounds like your ump is really putting the "soft" in softball.
  15. Why not use players with defensive value in platoon roles? Kratz is a right-handed bat who also happens to bethe team's best catcher and he's had to spend time in AAA while the team experiments with the likes of Moises Sierra and Brad Glenn, players who are worthless on either side of the ball. Maybe Francoeur has enough of a platoon split to be an improvement over those worthless players because he could do one thing relatively well but ideally you fill your bench with players who can do more than one thing.
  16. That may have been the case last year but he's been a decent hitter in the past and he did seem to be bouncing back this year. I understand that in theory and it was working quite well for awhile with the Francisco/Tolleson platoon but we don't seem to be getting much out of the 2B platoon anymore, just using two spots to get the equivalent of one mediocre switch-hitter. Izturis could give you that.
  17. Getting rid of Thole would greatly simplify things but if that was going to happen it probably would have happened by now.
  18. Yeah I'd do that too. I don't mind if he accepts because it's just one year. The one thing I wouldn't want to do is sign him long term. There's too much risk of that turning into Vernon Wells 2.0.
  19. Mastro and Glenn are on the roster and Kratz is not. That's the real problem.
  20. If you get an everyday 2B, it gets easier to roster Kratz and use the three-headed catching monster to cover right-handed DH. Two birds, one stone.
  21. Gose is also left-handed.
  22. Ever since online voting, the fans have typically done a reasonably good job. There's always at least one Red Sock or Yankee that doesn't really deserve to be there and for the most part that's it as far as mistakes go. The player voting for the reserves is often worse than the fan voting even thought that was supposed to be one of the things that would "fix" the all-star game. Pretty much every change to the All-Star game has just made the whole thing more convoluted to no real advantage. Taking away fan voting would be more of the same.
  23. Agreed. Just because you liked the all-star game as a kid, doesn't mean you have to like it now. Taking three days off from following baseball actually gives you a nice break in the middle of the season. Good time to watch that movie you've been wanting to see or play that video game you like or even spend time with loved ones if that's more your thing.
