  1. Regardless of whether it's the intention of his demotion, I'm hoping Santos gets claimed. A bit of extra money will do more for this team this year than Santos pitching in the minors will and his option for next year was going to be declined anyways. I'd also much rather his 40 man roster spot got to someone like Venable than to Aaron Sanchez.
  2. Just because BTS posts it, doesn't make it about the Rays you simpleton.
  3. That's a big financial commitment for Nolin.
  4. Basically ChiSox won but only on account of financial commitment. Crazy.
  5. Damn. Gentry would have been a very good fit.
  6. So ultimately the savings would be pretty negligible if someone picked him up. More than enough for Denorfia but not enough for Headley.
  7. His salary is as follows according to Cotts: 14:$3.75M, 15:$6M club option, 16:$8M club option, 17:$8.75M club option ($0.75M buyouts for each option) Now if you waive his option for 15 do you also have to buy the other two years? That would be an extra 2,25 in addition to the pro-rated portion of 3,75.
  8. Yes either he clears and he can pitch in the minor or they get some salary relief they can use.
  9. Wasnt Santos moved in the Ian Kinsler trade that didn't happen? This hurts.
  10. I basically feel the opposite way. I found The Ring scary and Ringu not at all scary. I found Infernal Affairs if not better in all respects, at least better in its important aspects. I really don't understand why they changed the story so much especially the ending which was perfect in the original. If they had kept the same story, they could have surpassed it with better production values (mind you the schizophrenic editing in The Departed is also an issue). I haven't seen Ju-On or The Grudge but nobody seems to like The Grudge so you're probably right about that one. On a side note, the Ring 2 is one of my most hated sequels of all time. If you thought The Ring sucked than I can only imagine what you would think of The Ring 2 (same director as Ringu incidentally).
  11. Ever see Infernal Affairs, the original version. It's not as well acted or as dark as the American version but it has a tidier, more credible script.
  12. Wouldn't you agree that of all the things you would use to discredit people this one seems really odd? I mean there's a lot of hyperbole on this board but you latch on to an incident of people being concerned about the fate of another board member? Maybe that doesn't seem dickish to you and maybe I'm wrong about your intentions but you must at the very least be able to see how it could seem like you really go out of your way to be unpleasant and to be disliked. You are probably on more ignore lists than any other poster on this board, many of whom can be quite abrasive, shouldn't that tip you off to something? If you're not just trying to get a rise out of people than maybe you should re-consider some of the stuff you write.
  13. Perfectly sensible. Disgusting cheap shot. It wasn't just someone off the board for 5 minutes as you well know. It was a legit case of mistaken identity that just happened to coincide with an absence from the board. You really are a miserable piece of s*** to be so ghoulish about something like that. Lots of people were concerned and sadenned. You have no soul.
  14. God Dammit!
  15. Don't mean to pick on you in particular but FFS, why is everyone the angel of doom around here? I can understand criticisizing the organization but the baseless pessimism is really dumb and rather pervasive.
  16. Apparently Bautista is RF full time now so I'm guessing we'll see: POS RHP/LHP C Navarro/Kratz 1B Johnson 2B Kawasaki 3B Francisco/Tolleson SS Reyes RF Bautista CF Rasmus/Mastroianni LF Gose/Cabrera DH Cabrera/Navarro
  17. I'll admit his fly ball percentage is high (though not as high as Todd Redmond's). He's not a perfect fit by any stretch but all he's being asked to do is be more useful than Jenkins and by that very modest measure, he should be fine.
  18. The hate for Mills seems really, really over the top. The guy has a decent strikeout rate, much better than Jenkins. It's not a great pickup exactly but it's not a terrible one. He can get guys out and be serviceable. As far as losing McGuire goes, that really should be a non-issue. He likely goes unclaimed and good luck to the team that claims him otherwise.
  19. This is interesting. I had pretty much written him off as a lost cause at this point. Might not just be the pressure from the Jays that's getting to him, there might be some strain in his relationship with Ole Miss. I have a hard time imagining this guy willingly leaving football otherwise. Is there any reason for optimism here or has too much development time been wasted?
  20. In hindsight, maybe throwing money at a football crazed athlete who emphatically told baseball teams not to draft him wasn't so clever. Funny to think how it seemed like such a ninja move at the time.
  21. Mills, McGuire, Jenkins... It's former prospect musical chairs.
  22. Oh come on! Why so pessimistic? I say he goes O for forever and we all have a good laugh.
  23. I called Burns legit. That's a fail.
