  1. I was going to make a Mariners joke here but s*** they're actually doing well this season.
  2. ^ She looks like she would break in two if you bedded her.
  3. Big contributions from two of the most desparing players on the team and a small glimpse of how strong this team would be if Dickey pitched like a real ace and Reyes hit like a real leadoff hitter and played passable defense.
  4. Yep. He basically became obsolete the next day when the Jays claimed Reimold but the EE dl stint allowed the Jays to add Reimold without dropping Gillespie. Now his own DL stint will prolong his presence on the roster but an eventual DFA seems inevitable. You don't build teams with rejected Seattle outfielders.
  5. I think we would all like that but the guy has tons of pride. I think he's going to try to win the derby. Hopefully he only take a single PA in the game.
  6. Meh. I don't buy any of this gloom and doom talk.
  7. Josh Thole has played 1B if Bautista playing 1B is a concern although frankly I don't know why it would be.
  8. This has been quite the three season swing for the Red Sox.
  9. Dramatic career turn-around. What a roller coaster ride it's been.
  10. Seems to be affecting his hitting too. The guy is not contributing in any way. The only reason he isn't hurting the team is that whoever replaces him wouldn't contribute either.
  11. Tim Cooney sucking ass in AAA after almost making the team out of spring training and starting strong to add to the things going wrong.
  12. Ruh-roh. Norris for Headley would suck ass.
  13. Couldn't get it off for Alison Brie? Definitely the gayest gay man ever.
  14. Halladay is also deeply religious and he was uncomfortable with going for the biggest payday in free agency. He signed a lot of below market deals with Toronto and when he asked to leave it was to go to a contender. He didn't try to gauge the Phillies for money either. I could see Norris following a similar path.
  15. Yes that's what I'm assuming actually which is why I can't see him being moved to RF until after the All-Star break. The fact that he's captaining the homerun derby and probalby won't want to pull out of the actual game either complicates things a bit. You would prefer for him to just take the time off and recover but you don't want to DL him just to make him miss it either.
  16. It was an extremely risky trade. Jays absolutely had to win that year to make it worth it but there was definitely a chance that that would happen. I think even the harshest critic admitted as much it was just a question of was the probablity worth the risk? They almost had to do something like the Dickey trade to increase their chances of it working out and they proabaly should have traded Sanchez too. You shouldn't go all in ever if you can avoid it but if you're crazy enough to do it, you can't half-ass it.
  17. Could be worse. We could have League and Thames.
  18. If Bautista was healthly and playing RF, promoting Dan might make sense since Lind can't play 1B effectively but the team doesn't seem to want to play Bautista in the OF so Jose might as well play 1B. After the all-star break maybe you call up Johnson, move Bautista back to RF and use Reimold in the Gillespie role and get the probably inevitable Gillespie DFA out of the way. My preference thought would be to keep Johnson in the minors, keep Bautista at 1B, call up Kratz, use Navarro in the Gillespie role and get the invitable Gillespie DFA out of the way.
  19. The biggest problem with Sierra is that because he was out of options, AA didn't want to risk losing him to waivers by putting a better player in front of him. The fact that he ended up letting him go anyways looks really bad on AA and his roster management this off-season. Is Sierra worse than the scrubs the Jays are using now? Maybe not. The real issue is not getting a real option in the off-season just to protect him.
  20. Well trading Hutch or Stroman would set you back as much as it sets your forward so that's definitely out. Sanchez alone probably won't land you enough to address all the team's holes but if you get someone with a bit of control left, It could work out. The team should do something before they lose all the surplus value they get from EE and Bautista. Someone who improves your chances both this year and next would be ideal as a return for Sanchez. Someone with an expriring contract would probably just go to waste. Someone with an extra year might also go to waste too but the team's going to suck post Bautista/Encarnacion regardless of whether they keep Sanchez or not. The opportunity to just go for it probably won't come around for awhile and the squandered opportunity to win now is going to hurt. Having Sanchez around won't heal that.
  21. I suppose but AA has said a lot about wanting defense from whoever he brings in. He might change his tune a bit given desperation but Uggla as offensive boost would be a pretty pathetic, borderline white flag tactic. It might happen. AA's commitment to defense if for the most part all talk anyways. You would prefer your offensive reclamation projects to at least not kill you on defense while you wait for their bast to come around (see Chase Headley) but given that AA might not want to trade anyone and might not have any money to work with either maybe Uggla is a good as it gets and the season is basically over.
  22. I actually think the Dickey deal was a better deal on paper than the Marlins trade. At least Dickey had a chance to outperform what he was going to be paid. The Marlins trade was at best a wash in terms of the expected performance vis-à-vis salary commitment and that's before you even factor in whatever Escobar, Desclafani, Marisnick and Alavarez would provide in terms of value.
