  1. Rosenthal confirming that it's only Tirado and Cordero. Great deal AA.
  2. Fangraphs didn't have Cordero ranked in our top 35. Tirado was 17. This seems like a good deal right? #17 and #35 for 2-2.5 WAR Outfielder?
  3. Who gets a start if someone gets hurt? Randy Wolf?
  4. Doubront traded to the A's for cash.
  5. Haha what? Is it bad? Exactly how bad? Not enough games there to rely on defensive metrics. Does the bat make up for it? To what degree? That's what I mean when I say I don't know enough about it.
  6. Depends on his OF defense which I don't really know enough about.
  7. I'm a little bit nervous about this one too. 2 more years of control after this means the Phillies didn't have to give him up for nothing. I wouldn't be shocked to see a better prospect than we expect being included in this one.
  8. Yeah but check out his velocity. Back up to 95 like it was when he was actually productive. Not 92 like when he was bad. That's an indication that he's healthier than he has been, right?
  9. This was a great post and I was well on my way to clicking the "Thanks" button until I got to that analogy.
  10. None after this season.
  11. He's probably close to a half win improvement ROS over the replacement level LF we currently use. He's good for 2+ WAR and has two more years of control (for his Age 28 and 29 seasons) after this too. Despite all of his faults he wouldn't be a bad pickup depending on the price.
  12. Don't be like that.
  13. Would be nice if the Phillies would take him in a deal for Revere.
  14. Yeah it definitely allowed for a sigh of relief when he wasn't included. But also from a PR point of view how many fans even know who Anthony Alford is? Less than 5%?
  15. Oh for sure. As I said it's ill-advised. But without knowing anything about future payroll (and after the Tulo trade you can't tell me payroll projections are down right now) or what an extension for Price would even look like I don't think it's fair to call it franchise crippling.
  16. Franchise crippling though? Is Max Scherzer going to bring the Nats to their knees? I doubt it. I agree with you that contracts like that are ill-advised though.
  17. Why wouldn't you want an extension? Hilarious that you would call one "franchise crippling" without knowing the numbers or what our future payroll looks like.
  18. No we don't. No comp picks for rentals anymore.
  19. That rule was changed. You no longer get comp picks for rentals.
  20. Just have to offer up something better than a comp pick and you'd think something could easily get done.
  21. Lol this guy is actually whining about nothing ever getting done on the heels of the biggest trade in baseball this year. Did you just wake up?
  22. I am a Canadian citizen but I was born and raised in the US. Ended up in CO for work.
  23. I live in Denver and everyone hates ownership. They get really involved in everything and they also stick with their baseball ops guys for far too long, it appears. On top of it they do weird things like write angry reply letters to fans, DUI's, etc. I live right next to Coors though so they have become my second team and from their perspective it is nice to see them FINALLY move on from the Tulo/Cargo contracts. This is long overdue and it has really affected the value of both guys IMO but it's better late than never.
  24. There will be a lot. Almost all of the names being thrown around as trade bait right now are FAs.
  25. Yeah I mean the wet blankets in this thread COULD be right in that Tulo ends up like Reyes but it's not guaranteed. This is a good deal for a lot of reasons. -We dumped a bad contract. Reyes has already hit the wall, Tulo isn't guaranteed to do the same. So we've dealt a bad contract for a contract that COULD be bad but won't necessarily be. -Even if Tulo does become a negative asset, we are kicking the can down the road for an older team trying to contend. -AA has shown the ability to move bad contracts in the past (Vernon Wells and now Reyes). This assumes AA is even here in a few years though. -We didn't even give up a Top 50 prospect. -Look at the market right now. The Royals got a better package for a half season of Cueto and this is with 8 good starters available on the market. Tulo is the only SS I know of on the trade market and their are several big market teams that needed a SS. It just seems like the Rockies were a little light in what they acquired. Is this a slam dunk home run? No it's not. But it's a solid B+ to A- trade to me.
