    Yeah that's a good point. If the old rules were in effect he could have just barreled in to him with a slide, no need to reach out.

    You almost have to assume it did. It wasn't a difficult throw to make and he totally botched it. Jose didn't make hard contact but he did get him a little bit. It's f***ing s***** to lose like that but it is what it is. I'll have to watch more replays to be sure (only saw it live and then two replays) but I think they probably got the call right - even though it wasn't egregious contact by Jose.

    That's what makes it tough to swallow. EE could have been safe anyway and it would have been a tied game with two outs. But even though he didn't really make hard contact with his foot he did reach out which is interference and they get two outs. f***ing sucks but that's what it is. Just need to get them tomorrow.

    Can you explain the rule and how it applied there? Did they rule that Bautista intentionally reached out to affect the throw?

    Yeah once they give Gibby the 25 it's up to him. But I don't understand the decisions today to give him this 25.

    With the emergence of Floyd and then Sanchez actually looking like a viable SP candidate, that Hendricks for Chavez trade is looking like a huge dud. Traded 4 years of a really good reliever for 1 year of a longman.

    True but that was Vegas. Does the wRC+ account for that? The projections for him are terrible.

    The one thing Gibbons seems to understand, correct me if I'm wrong, is splits so I think he'd use him effectively.

    Gossage once got in a fight with a teammate and injured himself. He was out for 6 weeks. Not sure why fighting a teammate is ok in his book.

    DC isn't so bad. Lots of touristy s*** to see but if you don't give a s*** about American history it might not be that great.

    Let's say Pompey is sent down, Zeke is the 4th OF. Is Zeke the backup CFer? Yuck! Although like you said Pillar should hit close to 162 and if he gets hurt Pompey can play CF. I just worry Pillar ends up with some nagging injuries and we see Zeke or even worse Bautista in CF.

    So are we really not going to pick up another OF? If Pompey doesn't win the LF job, Gibbons said he's going down to AAA. Who would our 4th OF be? Do we even have one who can play CF?

    The definition of mediocre according to Google is "of only moderate quality; not very good." Average is "of the usual or ordinary standard, level, or quantity." Although the definition of average also includes mediocre. So I suppose the terms can be interchangeable.

    I voted mediocre because it was the closest option to average. I liked the direction more than anything. We've got our own guys we need to lock up long term so not adding any big salaries was helpful. I also liked most of the moves (not necessarily the Hendricks trade). But no major improvements happened, we merely patched some holes so hard to grade it higher than that for me.
