  1. I was just joking about him being a racist. I could care less if he's a racist. This team desperately needs a star being paid league min!
  2. 20 teams pursued him. We're one of three finalists according to Passan.
  3. No participation medals...Ross is going to be flexing in the mirror saying f*** you Ken Rosenthal for a week after we sign him.
  4. That or they hired Kawasaki to be his tour guide when he visited Toronto and Kawa got him drunk and we have compromising photographs.
  5. Down to the Padres, Dodgers and Jays. The fantasy suite date. You better put out Ross. https://x.com/MoccBomb/status/1878939072284279141
  6. He's coming to Toronto. He wants to develop a splitter and Gausman has the best splitter in the league. Heard it here first. You're welcome.
  7. That or the Jays were the only team offering 4 years and he doesn't want to come here.
  8. If Varsho hits any higher than 7th this year!
  9. Grichuk loved Toronto. I have no doubt he would return to Toronto.
  10. The Marlins got 10 players trading Realmuto, Yelich and Stanton and Stanton was traded in the offseason after winning the MVP. None of those players amounted to anything and none of those players are currently in the Miami Marlins organization. A cautionary tale.
  11. Springer needs to be pushed to the 6 hole lol. I think George still has a .780ish to .820 OPS bounce in him. I wouldn't bet on it, I'm just hopeful it's still in him. I mean if money's no object let's just sign Alonso and Santander. I have a feeling money isn't unlimited though..lol
  12. I find it hilarious that this is the board makes fun of casual fans that don't understand advanced stats and then they completely ignore advanced stats for old people. Seriously as an old person, I'm offended. It's elder abuse. This is the statcast page of an old man who entirely missed training camp. I'll bet on the old guy who can have a normal spring. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/j-d-martinez-502110?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  13. 37...I know you guys are doing this to annoy me..lol
  14. He's 37 FFS and Martinez probably signs a 1 year deal. JD is your secondary bat. I could even be talked into Grichuk as your secondary bat who would be the same salary if you guys are hell bent on your old person bias. So Grichuk or Martinez and Santander. This team needs 2 bats. If it was me I'd trade for Yelich and sign Grichuk/Martinez, but that would be an insanely ballsy move taking on a massive amount of injury risk.
  15. Dude, he's 37 and you put way too much stock into Steamer projections. We scored 671 runs last year. Our offense is worse today than it was last year. I don't give a flying f*** about positional FWAR adjustments. JD Martinez will not cost the Jays a single run defensively playing as a DH. The fact that you think Giminez will have a higher OPS than JD is laughable. I'll take the over on the .715 OPS Steamer is projecting for JD Martinez. Care to make a friendly wager. If I win, you stop posting for 6 months. If I lose, I'll stop posting for 6 months.
  16. Vogelbach isn't anywhere close to the hitter JD Martinez was in his career and given Vogelbach's body size that adds 6 or 7 years to his aging curve. Seriously, JD is an extremely intelligent hitter. He's known for being a highly intelligent hitter. If I'm a GM with my job on the line I'm betting on Martinez as my DH for 130 games, not rotating a bunch of kids through that position.
  17. If JDM sucks next year 1 year 8 mil commitment isn't going to prevent you from playing someone else. It a small enough contract that you can say we rolled the dice and lost and you can DFA him.
  18. Look at his batted ball profile and consider he missed training camp. He's also a guy you're probably going give a lot of rest too so he plays 130ish games. He was still had an OPS+ of 106. I'd say the odds of him having an OPS north of .800 are around 50%. He's a 1 year 8 mil gamble. I'd put his floor around where it was last year. A 1 year 8 mil deal isn't going to prevent us from getting Santander. Now imagine having Vlad, Santander and JD all with an OPS of .800 or better in the lineup.
  19. There's obviously a big game of chicken being played by those 2 players. I definitely want Santander, but now is the time to go get JD Martinez. He got 1 and 12 last year. He missed training camp because he waited so long. What's he going to cost 1 and 8? 1 and 9? I'm sure he doesn't want to go through what he did last year. He's a no brainer.
  20. Honestly, Saskaki seems like a unique individual. The thought of playing for a country might appeal to him. As always I'm not getting my hopes up, but I won't say our chances are zero. As much as I'm piling on Shatkins, this type of pursuit is probably in their wheelhouse. For the the love of god Dannon, sign this kid!
  21. George's athleticism on the basepaths and range and the diving catches he makes all seem to still be there. He's a curious case. I think there was some bad luck last year, but I also think he's not aggressive enough early in counts. I think he's been late or taking some pitches he should be driving early in counts trying to get into deeper counts. It wouldn't surprise me if George put up a .780 to .800 OPS next year. I mean, this team desperately needs that. I think a little bit more sell out, which would lead to higher K rates but potentially increase the power numbers might benefit Springer.
  22. That number includes players on minor league deals with the potential to make the team. The LTP is actually lower unless you assume the Lauer's of the team are a lock to make the team. I much prefer spotrac which shows the break down of every player. They have us at 219. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/toronto-blue-jays/tax
  23. Signing Sasaki is all about breaking him down as a pitcher and laying out your plan to make him the greatest. As far as starters, Ray, Matz, Stripling. We've had some success over the years. Our rotation has been the healthiest in the league for the last few years. The strength and conditioning department as well as how we've utilized our starters shouldn't be questioned. I think the Jays will put an enticing presentation and package forward. The problem is dodgers and San Diego will put forth good presentations as well and the tie breaker being sunny California and Japanese players to play with probably wins the day.
  24. You though it should have been lower?
