  1. We all want to see what a slim or just slightly overweight Kirk could do. His eye hand co-ordination is off the charts. You see it with the glove work and blocking behind the plate and at the plate with his contact skills. If Kirk lost 40lbs and added some muscle he could be a top 3 catcher in the league. I get why they kept Kirk. I just don't know why they haven't sent him to fat camp in the off season yet.
  2. This crowd is ridiculous. I wouldn't cheer for the Dodgers anyways, but the crowd makes it easy to cheer for the Padres.
  3. This is why the Jays won't extend Vlad this offseason. It's ridiculous. A new GM will have the opportunity to sign him in free agency next year after Shatkins is fired. Countdown is on. Was their any clue about Wheeler. Nothing other than superior stuff and talent.
  4. Ok...the Springer signing wasn't a bad one. That one decision aside, Atkins sucks and should have been fired. Are you happy now.
  5. Do we purposely draft poorly, use international signing money poorly and develop poorly because we have the money to spend in free agency and want to give the other clubs a shot..lol The Jays lost the least man games due to injury this year and had a luxury tax payroll. Atkins should have been fired. It's pretty cut and dried.
  6. Signing springer wasn't a mistake. The problem is our farm sucks and that's a direct result drafting, international signings and development. Have you looked at our top international signings the last several years. It's gross. Bonilla had a .556 OPS this year and we spent 90% of our INT money on him. Meza, Beltre...gross.
  7. Stieb was actually 9th inning 2 outs 2 strikes in back to back games in 88 and lost no hitters. In 89 he lost a perfect game with 2 outs in the inning. He lost a no hitter in the 9th in 85. He finally got the Jays only no hitter in 1990.
  8. I wasn't referencing pitching ability. Steib took a no hitter into the 9th in back to back starts. It was the end of the 5th when I posted that. Clearly I jinxed him..lol
  9. Bo wants out. It's obvious. He's also 17.5 ml next year. That money can be re-invested. I mean, Soto would be the obvious guy, but that's not going to happen. Atlanta has Soler and Ozuna. Both are DH's next year. 1 year of Bo for 1 year of Ozuna matches up salary wise and probably be a decent trade if the Jays were really going for it.
  10. Yes, I could see Bo moved in the off season. His 17.5 mil salary can be re-invested elsewhere with Clement playing SS. Free agents of interest, O'neill, Alonzo, Soto, Jd Martinez, Teoscar, Santander, Bregman. It's a pretty thin on the free agent front for position player side. If the Jays traded Bo they would have a fair amount to spend if they wanted to.
  11. No hitter watch again. Gausman through 2 without giving up a hit!
  12. Definitely a different vibe to the team. A bunch of young kids playing having fun. I'm not sure who if any of them will work out long term but it's refreshing to see the energy.
  13. Vlad now sits 5th in the qualified wRC+ leaderboard. Bobby Whit Jr is the next guy to overtake. It's been remarkable to watch. 6 weeks ago he wasn't top 30 in the league.
  14. Vlad can not be stopped...just sign him.
  15. Francis is going to be a decent reliever for the Jays next year. He's not a starter.
  16. Vlad's missed 10 games total in the last 6 years, none of which were related to injury...lol OF is a good idea.
  17. Vlad has turned the corner. He's discovered the golden ticket. The talent has always been there. Looking at 22 and 23 is ridiculous. He's a top 5 hitter in the game. Just pay the man.
  18. Now's the time to experiment as the season's lost, but if he played reasonable well at third or outfield he just increases his contract value. That's why I'm firmly in the gamble sign him and then experiment, but that's not going to happen. Vlad's 5 foot splits are a tick above league avg. Given his arm, OK speed and his current defense at first I don't know why they aren't having a look at him in the outfield.
  19. Let's trade him for 3 prospects this off season!
  20. Vlad's 3.3 wins with bad baserunning and bad defensive metrics and will probably be 5+ this year. Baserunning stats can be very volatile. Vlad gets dinged a bit on advances at the plate because when it splits the outfield and it's an advance opportunity because of where it's hit but he hit it 116 off the bat on a line and it really wasn't an advance opportunity. He probably had 6 or 7 advance opportunities where got thrown out. It could easily be two or three next year as it was in 21 and with league avg sprint speed his base running could be closer to 0. If he had that along with a better defensive year he could be a 7 to 8 win player. That's worse case scenario. No shot of getting him in free agency. Or you could just sign him now for 12 and 300 and start experimenting playing him at 3rd and left the rest of the way. League avg sprint speed, well above league avg arm strength. I'd be throwing him in left after I signed him to see how he looks.
  21. I was referring to Donaldson and Bautista from the post. If you drive the bus looking in the rear view mirror you're going to hit a deer. Harper wasn't consistently elite and he signed his contract and he's been elite. The problem is our GM thinks like you do. You can use this in negotiation, but the Yankees aren't going to hesitate to give Vlad 25 mil for 12 years and you can have fun watching Judge, Soto and Vlad for 5 or 6 years and Soto and Vlad for 10 years. Seriously. You think Vlad is worth 6 years 24 mil. That's beyond ridiculous. The market dynamics have also change dramatically over the last couple years. A new CBA with higher luxury tax levels and new revenue streams. Contract values go up over time. Comparing to contracts from several years ago is non sensical.
  22. I'm not really going to make a rather large bet. That's just internet talk. We can revisit this in a year and a half from now..lol
  23. I'll make a rather large bet with you that someone will give Vlad 12 years 25 mil a year to hit 300 paying him to his age 38 season. If you want to take the under 300 go ahead. You'll lose that bet.
