  1. See I was specifically referring to people like you. 1st baseman don't hit free agency at the age Vlad will. He also has league avg sprint speed and a cannon for an arm. He can play left field, he can handle third. They are playing him at 1st. Positional adjustments just overpay short stops and underpay 1st basemen. You should look at how a player compares at his position. There is a massive gap between the avg 1st baseman and Vlad. His bat is elite. Top 5 in the league. He could easily have years where he has the number 1 bat in the league over the life of his contract. You either believe in the bat or you don't.
  2. Vlad can not be stopped. All the nerds who don't think Vlad deserves 300 mil are ridiculous. 12 years 300 to 320...Just get it done....Knowing the last 3 years might not be pretty is just the cost of doing business with a superstar.
  3. Vlad was all over that timing wise...just got under it.
  4. His statcast stats have always been there. He just needed to start elevating the ball a bit and get a bit of luck. He's a top 5 hitter in the game. He's finally realizing that potential.
  5. You're comparing Vlad to players who became free agents in their 30s. Give me a break. Vald is a .900 to 1.000+ OPS guy year after year. If you need more value out of him, throw him in left or play him at 3rd. I'm sure he could handle both positions. Getting a guy who consistently is a .900 to 1.000 player for 6 or 7 years in a row isn't exactly easy to find. We've had one of those guys in franchise history and Carlos Delgado played in the steriod era.
  6. Basically you're getting a half season out of Manoah. As much as we focus on the hitting, our bullpen was bottom 3 in the league this year. I feel like Francis could be a decent bullpen arm. Rodriguez might ultimately be a guy better suited for the bullpen too. There will be no competing if Bo's OPS isn't close to .800. If he returns to his normal production and vlad is a .900 OPS monster I believe him to be it's entirely possible to compete if the Jays are willing to spend like they did this year.
  7. Manoah had the internal brace procedure. Generally players come back earlier from that. May to early June isn't out of the question for Manoah.
  8. Lol...that's probably what Atkins is offering. That's never going to get it done.
  9. As I think about Vlad positionally, we moved him to 1st because he got fat and couldn't handle any other position. His sprint speed this year is 27.3 this year which is above league avg. His 5 foot splits are above league average too. Is it time to experiment the last two months of the season and let him play more 3rd? Even further outside the box would be should we be throwing him in left field. I know it won't happen, but he's got a cannon for an arm and has enough speed to play in the outfield.
  10. If you're a team that is going to spend over the luxury tax, you should be extending your best talent. Look at what Boston got for Betts. They didn't get better years down the road by trading Betts. They should have extended him.
  11. Kwan dropped from 157 to 155. He's actually tied for 10th in the league with Alvarez and Profar.
  12. What a day for Vlad. Finishes with a .904 OPS. Passed Kwan now tied for 10th in the league with a 155 wRC+ Vlad is back to being a top 10 hitter in the league. I wouldn't be betting against Vlad finishing top 5 in the league in wRC+ this year. He's on fire.
  13. Vlad now has a .900 OPS. He's literally galloping up the leaderboard. His wRC+ is now 154 tied for 12th in the league with Alvarez. Pay that man his money.
  14. He was -15.6 defensively in 21. WTF are you talking about?
  15. He was a 6.3 win player in 21. Give me a break.
  16. Atkins is a gutless little nerd. I actually like the trade, but I'm so over Atkins. Just fire him already.
  17. Vlad's worth that. He'd be in his age 36 season in the last year of that deal. He's going to have some 155 to 170 wRC seasons in that contract. If that's what he's asking and the Jays haven't signed him yet, that's just another reason to fire atkins.
  18. Vlad has had his inconsistencies ala Brice Harper in his early year. Partly physical conditioning. He's in much better shape. His underlying numbers are insane. The only thing was elevating the ball. It's timing getting the head out. He's back to elevating the ball. He's going to be a top 5 or 6 hitter in the game over the next 5 years. Now is the time to pounce and get him at a discount. Putting too much stock in the past couple seasons and not realizing what he's doing right now would be a mistake. Vlad's going to finish this season with an OPS north of .900. Next year he could have a monster year and we're not signing him on the cheap after that. If he hits free agency he's gone. He wants to stay.
  19. Bo's got I don't want to be here, I don't give a f***itis. It's incurable. We need to trade him the f*** out of here this deadline if he can get himself healthy.
  20. This trade deadline will be an epic fail if Bo Bichette doesn't get traded.
  21. Vlad's going to end up with an OPS north of .900 this year. You're overly negative. Shatkins likely is too and we're going to lose him if we wait until he's a free agent.
  22. 4 days ago....f*** just sit springer already. Today. Damn we can't afford to lose Springer. How quick things can change..lol
  23. This ump has been hot garbage all night.
  24. They keep talking about Vlad's power. He's always had the power, he's just getting the ball in the air now.
  25. How Moreno does in his career is immaterial. It's how he was viewed at the time of the trade. He was a top 5 prospect and his prospect capital was very high. Did we get enough in Varsho? Who knows who else we could have gotten. Varsho is an incredible defender and baserunner. He's a fine player at the bottom of your order who's going to hit some bombs. I'm so over even discussing this trade. Atkins failure wasn't the trade itself, it was thinking Varsho was a middle of the order bat and not addressing this roster accordingly. Varsho is a 3 to 3.5 win player. That's really good. He just isn't an offensive player.
