  1. Ultimately I blame the front office for not forcing him to hit the lab in the offseason. He 100% should have shown up this year with some new pitches, or new shapes on his existing pitches. Everyone else in baseball is developing sweepers and cutters.
  2. He definitely has a "deer in headlights" look about him since some point last season. Like, he gets f***ing hammered and isn't even mad. He sits on the bench and stares at his failures on the iPad for the rest of the game.
  3. Yeah it wasn't really. There was no bad luck involved IIRC. All the hits by KC were pretty flush. If he pitches like that against a good offense multiple balls leave the park, I think.
  4. Oh yeah His fastballs were bleeding over the heart of the plate all night His changeup was too high, almost every time he threw it
  5. But how does a guy like Berrios, with all the MLB experience and his track record, suddenly have horrible command? NOTHING MAKES SENSE!
  6. Curve locations look mostly fine Sinker locations look mostly fine, even though a few drifted into the zone and got hit The four seamer locations are a nightmare I return to my theory that he should have spent all off-season developing a cutter and/or a breaking ball variant and he should scrap the four seamer. Sinker/Cutter/Curve Even if he's not going to change his pitches, his game plan is a nightmare. No high four seamers???
  7. Another one of those games where Berrios didn't even have to be good, he just had to not get f***ing obliterated.
  8. I guess but I'd rather he be pulling dingers Bo Bichette is up there trying to play pepper with the 2B
  9. Some f***ing moron is telling the Blue Jays to go up the middle and to opposite field These guys at the top of the order are basically TRYING to not hit home runs lmao
  10. hahahahahahahahahahahhaa getting creamed by hunter dozier, jackie bradley jr., and nicky f***ing lopez good lord
  11. Berrios and Singer basically have the same stuff. Maybe Berrios can learn how to pitch today
  12. Pop the champagne, Berrios had a clear inning!
  13. Arizona would not do that. It would have been Kirk for Alek Thomas
  14. Cleveland drafts College guys with good command and spin, and they teach them to throw harder. They are forced to be good at a niche like this because they have no money. In Toronto they have money so they have not been forced to be good at anything in particular. So they have no niche. And they aren't great at spending money.
  15. Oh look, Berrios is throwing BP again And the Jays hitters just want to hit groundballs all day probably
  16. How many home runs will Berrios give up on the first inning?
  17. These are horrible plate appearances Not ready to hit. Swings not locked in. Poor plan at the plate / no plan.
  18. The average fastball from a RHP is like 94+ now So a low 90s sinker will tend to have below average velo, and movement the modern models do not love. A lot of mediocre sinkers should just never be thrown, you're right. Bassitt's sinker in 2022 was actually pretty good. You take a 98 Pitching+ on it all day because it can set up all his other pitches. But... there might be some model bias against sinkers. They do have some functions that perhaps are not properly appreciated by the models.
  19. 63 Stuff+ on Bassitt's sinker last game He threw it more than any other pitch, by far (40%) He had a 96 Stuff+ on it last year what the f*** happened yesterday!? 2022 Bassitt on the year, all pitches combined: 98 Stuff+ and 102 Location+ Bassitt yesterday: 77 Stuff+ and 97 Location+

    NHL Thread

Is Boston going to set some kind of record for wins or points? holy f***
  21. I did look up Bassit's velocity game logs from 2022 His sinker average velo in his first 3 starts last year was similar to yesterday
  22. I don't want to get my hopes up too high for Francis but even if he is just a fringe SP5 candidate and someone to compete with Mitch White, that means a lot.
  23. It's like... the game doesn't want any of us to be fans or something. Manoah sucks Team walks 14 times and doesn't score Bassitt has the 3rd worst start in Jays history and is probably worse than Tanner Roark I am in so much pain
