    Obviously being a bench player is not the ideal development path for any young player, but I don't have much confidence in his mental makeup to go down to AAA and do the work necessary to take the next step. Since we are currently in our "window", I think its important to have a bench that can contribute, and I think Gose possesses multiple skills that allow him to do so; skills that no one else on the 40 possess.

    The only way I see it happening for Gose is to have a low pressure job sharing-ish role with Cabrera where he comes in late defensively and gets some ABs through that, and from spelling Rasmus on the odd days. I feel like he's better served by realizing some small personal wins via defensive contributions, scoring some winning runs via PR and the like, and gaining some confidence until something clicks with the bat. Plus it wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world if Bautista had a couple of nagging ailments that might give Gose some additional ABs.

    True, but it would be nice to have him around daily as a defensive replacement as well. It's great that Cabrera looks better this spring, but I'd still feel better having Gose on this bench.

    To be honest, I think if they want to get anything out of Gose, he should be in the majors. I feel like he's going to go down and sulk and spin his wheels and waste another season. At least in the majors he provides legitimate contributions defensively and via pinch running. Hopefully, the light goes on with the bat. That's not to defend him being a sourpuss, but just seemingly the reality of the situation. If the team is trying to take "the best team" north, I'd probably have Gose on it.

    Yeah, I don't see why it was Luis Perez who was cut. I guess they saw something in his delivery that they didn't like. Which makes me think they should have kept him. #bullpensession

    Happ pitching to the eventual score. You can't teach that.

    Everyone's making too big a deal out of this. As long as we understand that Dickey is a 1A, Beuhrle is a 2B, Hutch is a 3A, Morrow is a 2B to 2D and Happ is a 7A-. It's not complicated people.

    Probably Jeff Tam. He had one pitch when he was with us: fastball in the dirt. Al Leiter's departure angered me, especially since he was traded for my all-time fave in Barfield.

    Jokes aside, if Romero could give this team about 160-180 innings of non-terribleness, it would be a big boost for this team. And yes, I'm aware of how sad that sounds.

    What's wrong with the pitching lineup? At least we get to see "electric" Romero today. Save us Ricky Romero, you're our only hope.

    So we could have Wallace AND Gose? AA's legendary patience pays off!

    I'm not so concerned that Santana is trying to get the best deal financially, but more that he's running out of preparation time to start the season. Don't really want someone strolling in May 1st, but also don't want someone rushing to get ready and then getting hurt. I have no sympathy for rich players getting "screwed" by their agent.

    What an annoying process. So he wants to wait another few days with the season fast approaching? Seems like waiting longer should decrease his value as he's less likely to be ready for the start of the season with each passing day. This seems like a classic case of a guy getting bad advice and being too stupid to realize it.

    Yeah, I think we all know that this isn't going to pan out.

    1.1 innings is loads of time to judge a guy, especially for an organization that only needs a bullpen session to determine that they don't want that Chapman guy.

    I guess the main concern I would have with a large-scale retooling is that the same guys that inefficiently assembled the current team would be in control of identifying the return players in any deal. Yes, in theory we have a lot of guys that we could deal for a decent return, but do you trust the AA/Beeston regime to target the appropriate guys? I sure don't.

    I'm surprised they're not trying to sign Frank Jr. It's not everyday that you can just add 176 career wins to the rotation.

    The only way this could be better if we were cornering the market on knuckleball relievers.

    This sounds very reasonable to me, especially if Happ has options and Redmond does not. If they really have jimmied with Happ's arm angle, I can see why early spring results may be exceptionally poor. Redefining a guy's pitching motion seems like a definite AAA project. The only thing that really frightens me is how just about everyone seems to be reporting that Happ is a lock for the rotation.

    Dickey seems to me to be a very valuable guy to have in the rotation, even if he's not the ace-type guy we were hoping for. I wonder how much better the team would have been had they given up Sanchez instead of Syndergaard, if that was an even an option in the deal. I don't recall if the Mets specifically targeted Syndergaard over Sanchez.

    Knowing this organization like I do, and reading between the lines...pretty sure that Morrow has died guys.
