  1. "We liked Headly, but at the end of the day, with the guys they were asking about and with Lawrie progressing well and Kawasaki playing well, it just wasn't a good fit. Money wasn't an issue, it's just when we asked our scouts about Headly: his numbers, his health, his attitude; compared to some of the other balls we have in the air, it just want a good fit. Have I mentioned it wasn't a good fit? Because it wasn't. A good fit that is."
  2. Goins may be short term as Tolleson may be headed for 3 day paternity leave.
  3. Link bro. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-to-call-up-sanchez-goins-on-tuesday/ Please feel free to merge with other thread if it gets unlocked.
  4. He Who Shall Not Have Saves
  5. Not more than the #NewGuyInThePen.
  6. The only thing that I know for certain with this team is that if the Jays are in a high leverage, non-9th inning relief situation tonight, Rasmussen is going to get the call.
  7. The Drive of 85 was amazing; a heart breaking end to the season. Met a few of those Jays today, most notably Jesse Barfield. Too bad Jesse couldn't have been around for the WS wins.
  8. Looked like JPA went inside the baseline there to try and distract Johnson.
  9. Uh boy. Hopefully we get out of this and Janssen pitches his next game sans rust.
  10. When was this bunt? The 5th, 6th inning? Unreal.
  11. Technically these guys could be moved to clear salary, but I can't see AA having the intestinal fortitude to trade Janssen. The whole situation is so bizarre in that to bolster this club, they seemingly have to make, in essence, 3 team deals in order for the salaries to work out. Seems contrary to everything the team has said in the past about money being available when the time is right.
  12. But I don't think they generally swap out the NFL turf during. Just looks like they did a really sloppy job.
  13. To me they just seem to really stand out today, almost as if they could come into play.
  14. This is the first time I've really noticed the seams around first base, I'm guessing from the conversion from the Argos' field. Really an embarrassment. Hope they can kick the Argos out very soon.
  15. This trade deadline is a microcosm of the last 20 years. Can't decide what to do; buy or sell? The problem is that there's no plan, they just seem to switch gears on a whim. Unless this "can't take on money" thing is just posturing, this is going to be an ugly, ugly end to the season.
  16. This is really two separate topics: 1. Does it make sense to turn a starter into a reliever? 2. Does it make sense to bring up a guy whose numbers indicate that he won't be helpful to the team? Don't really have much problem with #1, Sanchez being True-Cardinaled as a bullpen piece short-term to give him some experience that will help him when he returns to starting. Have a big problem with #2, him being Anthopoulized and rushed to the majors without earning it and stunting his development. Also have a big problem in that this move likely delays addressing the real problem of our bullpen needing to be better.
  17. Are you guys forgetting the two solid innings he pitched at the end of the game in Montreal against the Mets in spring training?????? 2 IP is a pretty good sample size for this organization. This is a solid, solid move.
