  1. I don't think we can worry about outcome at the expense of process. Of course you don't want to make a deal and miss the playoffs, but any GM who won't make a move out of fear of the worst case scenario shouldn't be a GM. We have a reasonable chance here of making the playoffs, and can likely make reasonable moves to improve our chances. There's nobody in the minors that I would be despaired to lose.
  2. Well, you never want to overpay, but ultimately it comes down to what you place value in. I would gladly surrender years of control of young guys if it gets us into the playoffs, or at the very least, a strong run until the end of the season. That's not to say that they should be reckless, but hopefully they recognize the opportunity they have here.
  3. This shouldn't be about realizing Morrow's individual value moving forward anymore, it should be about amassing team wins. I think its highly debateable that Morrow's health will get to the point where he's a more valuable rotation piece than Happ, as sad as that sounds. Ultimately this team needs a better option than both of them, and the worst decision they could make is to stand pat because Morrow "is on his way back".
  4. Not sure why Delebar was recalled the first time. If you're sending him down, you're sending him down to work on something and get right.
  5. Edwin's homerun calmed me. Hopefully he'll go off against the Reds and show them that he shouldn't have been discarded.
  6. I would move Sanchez+ for Price. If they could do this then....oh, Bowden.
  7. Or even to start the inning. No reason for Korecky to make his first appearance in that situation. If Stroman had been lit up and you needed someone in the 3rd, 4th inning...fine, go with Korecky. Doesn't make sense in a three-run game with Cecil and others available.
  8. Lawrie also makes a play at 2B in the first inning that probably only he makes.
  9. I'd like to see Gose drag bunt a bit more, even if it's just to plant the seed in the defense's mind.
  10. I had no problem with Dickey getting the opening day start, but if MB has a Cy-caliber season to go along with his playoff experience, I think it will be him. At least I hope it will.
  11. I'm sure Gibbons will do this. I remember Gibbons doing a nice job of this a few years back by rotating guys like Frasor, Speier and others through higher leverage situations based on how they were doing.
  12. If MB keeps this up I think he'll get the nod, and I think with his experience it won't be an issue. If MB was 10 years younger, maybe the team feels like they owe Dickey something as the "leader" or the "veteran" or whatever. I really hope that Dickey can find a way to gain some consistency. He's a nice weapon to slot in between Hutch, Stroman, or any other hard thrower.
  13. Probably Hutch because he has helped solidify the rotation; especially important with Dickey being an unknown quantity. For a few years this team has had talent but needed someone to step up in the rotation: Romero, Morrow, etc. Hutch seems to be the guy that might develop into a guy you can depend on more often than not.
  14. I hate to use the "C" word, but trading Edwin would be a huge blow to the team's Chemistry, which probably shouldn't be a thing, but probably is a thing with this clubhouse. Obviously Edwin is not going to keep up this pace, but I still wouldn't move him, even if it's to get Price and Myers. Also, take his bat out of our lineup that faces LHP and it's not nearly as dangerous. Lawrie batting cleanup? Adding Price to the rotation, and having a guy like Myers with so many years of control left is very desirable, but not at the cost of Edwin, IMO. Not when we're "All In".
  15. Tough to know what Kent was to become at the time. Can't blame them for that trade, especially considering how they came up short through '91.
  16. Hopefully we won't have to see Casey today. #redmond
  17. But only if you watch the games on the radio.
  18. This seems like a loseable game. Hopefully we get to Archer early.
  19. Just make sure Beeston is on the penny; hopefully he'll also be discontinued.
  20. If you're going to hope, why not hope for a perfect game? That's like daydreaming about winning the bronze medal at the Olympics.
