    I don't think Gose is the typical prospect, and I'd hate to see the Jays treat him as such. While most prospects (I guess) establish themselves at each level before moving up, I don't think Gose fits this pattern. I think he's struggling because in his mind, he thinks he should be up here playing. That's not to say that that's what you hope for in the mindset of a prospect, but I feel like if the Jays want to get any value from him, they should bring him up and evaluate him at the major league level. If they wait for things to "click" in the minors, I don't think they'll get any value from Gose.

    The Jays are totally going to buy high on Rasmus this offseason. Hopefully this is the new normal. I don't disagree with the idea of moving Rasmus to LF at some point. I'm thinking I would almost prefer Rasmus in LF and Gose in CF while kicking Melky to the bench right now.

    Pretty sure JPA's going to hit a walk off bomb here.

    I think re-tooling could work. What I don't want to see is any further gutting of the farm to make this work. AA made risky moves and lost. He shouldn't compound that by trading a guy like Sanchez in order to try and save face. That would no longer be risky, but just downright reckless.

    I don't have much faith in this organization anymore, but they have to at least trade Oliver, right? Right? I mean, his case isn't even one of maintaining the bullpen going into next season. Dude's probably retiring. They could probably even sell the move as trying to do right by Oliver by granting him one last chance of playing for a contender. This is as no brainerish as it gets.

    The reason we don't have better position players IS the problem, and it's the same reason we have a bench including DeRosa. It's because AA and his army of scouts are useless when it comes to evaluating players. So we give starting positions to "must-have" Bonifacio and terrible JPA. He disregards aging curves and injury proneness in favour of "pop" in the bat and clubhouse speeches. Granted, just about every move has been a worst case scenario, and that's probably unlucky, but it shouldn't come as a shock that this team has struggled. You are right though that DeRosa's crappiness would be better masked if the rest of the team was better.

    Is the obvious move to deal Oliver before Santos' return? It seems everyone else is either pitching too well, would have to be exposed to waivers, or both. Prediction: the Jays expose Juan Perez, lose him, and then trade Oliver the next day.

    I might legitimately done with this team if they extend JPA. I just can't have faith in a team that has faith in JPA. Despite the talent they've lost prospect-wise, this team is still salvageable if they can learn from this season, have guys like Hutch and Stroman step up, and NOT commit long-term to JPA. Seems like they'll have the money again going into next season as well.

    Well, I certainly liked the Dickey deal less than the Miami deal, but in the context of the organizational shift, I didn't have a huge problem with it, albeit under the assumption that Dickey would perform similarly to last season. I don't have a problem with trading prospects, even great prospects, for a reasonable chance to win. I can see the other side as well; not making those deals and continue slow and steady. That said, when was the last time this organization developed one solid homegrown player, let alone a core of a championship caliber team?

    To be honest, I don't even find the offseason deals all that awful. Inefficient to be sure, but not awful. The baffler is making those deals, and then handing JPA and Boni fulltime, unlose-able jobs, not having another SS on the 40, etc. In terms of regime change, they need to bring a guy like Tim Leiweke, whose pretty much first order of business was to pack up all the 1960s Leaf nostalgia and challenge the Leafs to build a new legacy. The best thing the Jays could do is basically burn down/fire anybody with any sentiment/connection to the "glory" years.

    It's not even about any kind of message being sent by trading veteran players, just basic numbers. With guys coming off of injuries, there's going to be a roster crunch and just not room to keep everybody.

    The problem is we did both.

    You could bring up Gose, he could be the worst hitter in the majors, and he'd still be more valuable than a third of our roster.

    Leave it to this team to not only make a terrible trade, but also not recognize that they shouldn't be buying in the first place.
