  1. Rogers is exactly the kind of surprise a team needs throughout the season.
  2. Who would Rios replace, Melky? Don't see that being a good fit, especially if Rios' substance problems were as well known as you indicate.
  3. Trading Boni might be the best option once Reyes comes back, assuming there are teams out there that are interested.
  4. Interesting. So much to like about Gibby. Probably the best move AA made in the offseason.
  5. If they get into a scenario where they need extra arms, I'd rather see them deal with that on the fly like they were earlier in the season...rather than send Kawasaki down. I think he's shown more than just being a team mascot. Certainly more than Izturis and Boni.
  6. Just a matter of time before ECJF makes his "Playoffs will be easy to make thread".
  7. Interested to see what happens once his batting average dips below .200. For old school guys who "know baseball", the Mendoza line is a real thing.
  8. What a tempting deal. Bautista probably has a few solid seasons left, but for an organization that is incapable of drafting/developing their own players to get a major league ready guy in Profar, and free up money to boot, well, it's interesting. Not that AA would ever have the cojones to do this.
  9. Maybe. I do agree with either need to go on a run and be legit in it, or be clearly out of it. Anything in between and I'm afraid what will happen. The downside of being in last place is that it likely means our prime trade targets, like Johnson, are underperforming with their trade value at their lowest. Bah, what a season.
  10. #2013AllIn #Top10???
  11. With his OPS under .700, JPA really has nothing left to hang his hat on. Nothing.
  12. This crossed my mind a while back when Dickey faced Garcia in a start. I don't know why, but this game felt like a real kick in the teeth. The game after squandering a four-run lead against Texas; Dickey's first start after his best start of the season. Felt like it would have been a real statement to get right back in the win column. I feel like it would almost be better to just be awful than all of this two-steps-forward, two-steps back stuff.
  13. I clearly remember thinking when it was announced that they were adding the wild card: "How are ever not going to make the playoffs?" That has not turned out has I had expected.
  14. I would be interested in hearing AA's reasoning for why this was the time to make the move.
  15. I would personally try to avoid this kind of approach. Whatever he's doing prep-wise before his outings seem to be working. I would have him continue to do what he's doing, and then slowly let him go longer in his outings, and evaluate along the way (velocity levels vs. outing length, etc.). I think the last thing Cecil needs is a new game plan.
  16. I don't mind this approach, gives him a chance to stretch out slowly and see what you've got each step of the way. The last thing I want is for them to send him down to the minors with the message that they're going to convert him into a starter. I feel like Cecil's a guy that would take that message and then try too hard to make it happen.
  17. Looks like Bickford has some nice flowing locks. JPA probably fuming right now; he better ink his shampoo deal soon, might not have a chance in a couple of seasons.
  18. May has well, pretty much his only choice at this point.
  19. From a trade value perspective, I like Cecil as a lights out reliever who has "found his role". I don't think Cecil has enough time to build any value as a starter.
  20. I agree that this is the route he'll take, and in general I think it's doable. The only problem is that it's still AA making the moves going forward. I think the key for AA is trying to distinguish the unlucky (Reyes injury, maybe Dickey if he's more injured than we think, etc) from the bad (JPA as starting catcher, no depth).
  21. Yes, the bullpen has been pretty good. Nice to see at least something going well for this team.
