It was hit 105 EV and 49 degrees. By Statcast thats usually about 350-365 feet. Usually a flyout but where that was right down the line I think it would have gone out.

Pretty sure that’s based on where the ball landed.  It had the trajectory to easily be gone

pretty sure it's based on ball trajectory, EV and launch angle

You don't have to say "I think"... that was easily a HR.  There was a slight chance it could jave gone foul but it didnt look that way.  What horrible luck.

Did you watch it?  Ball was still travelling up and at the 49 degree angle when it hit the thing and went straight down.  It landed like 335 feet, 5-8’ from the wall.  With the rest of the upward arc and the downward arc, it’s going more than 5-8’

savant is maybe an idiot savant in this case

now I'm not sure, waiting for it to be posted here

People are assuming that because it was so dramatically knocked off its trajectory and it still landed on the warning track that it would have been a home run for sure but doesn't hitting the roof also knock the draw out of the ball too?

Legit question I don't really know the answer.  I thought it was going to go foul.

Pretty wild how quickly things can change. Ty France went from being a bench bat for Toronto last October to being one of the more important bats in San Diego’s lineup a year later.

I wonder what changed? Dude has always been f*ckin unit physically but hasnt really had the same type of game power you would expect from a guy as jacked as he is over the past few years.

And found it... he gives credit to Popkins last summer for noticing an issue with his hands but couldnt correct it during the season.

"Popkins had noticed a subtle change in France’s swing from the earlier part of his career. From 2020-22, France posted a .798 OPS and earned a trip to the All-Star Game in ‘22. During those seasons, France was lifting his hands before his load in his swing. Over the past couple seasons, he was pushing them backward, rather than lifting them."

“I’m very grateful for [Popkins] and for that, because I would never have been able to figure that out on my own,” France said. “Then, you’re breaking a bad habit. I needed muscle memory to get out of that bad habit. So I spent all offseason doing that."

Not sure what #s you are looking at. According to statcast 0 balls hit with that EV and trajectory have ever resulted in a HR and has only a 0.039 hit expectancy.

Chalk one up for the eye test i guess...

My only question is...why do the ground rules in Milwaukee state this is a playable ball, but if this had happened in Tampa it would have been a HR? What difference is there in the parks, height and location of these things that makes one playable and the other a guaranteed HR?

Murakami hit a home run this year with a 49 degree angle and less velocity,  103.6.  It went 345 feet.

This is an exciting game and the announcers are on point - great series so far

The defense has been ass, most of the runs were handed to the opposing teams. Kind of ugly to be honest. Brewers yuck.
