You literally called him a douchebag.  Clearly you have issues with getting excited and celebrating the moment.

That's a huge moment in Rays history.

Yeah because he stopped and posed twice. What I meant to say (I guess you misinterpreted my explanation) is no issues with celebrating but stopping to pose twice was excessive and dbag behavior. Even the catcher was shaking his head at him when he posed before home plate. Don’t know why you guys care so much. It’s just the Rays. Hope the Brewers destroy them.

The hundreds of millions of dollars in profits are likely enough to console them

Plus the Mets, Yankees and Dodgers can now jump up and down and say "See, see, small market teams CAN win a world series!  Everything is fine"  (knowing full well 2026 is the infrequent exception)

I see, so celebrating is allowed, but only if it falls within your definition of acceptable celebration, which includes continuous motion.  Got it.

Does the Vlad skip, shuffle, shhhhh celebration after every home run bother you?  I know we didn't see it much this year, but some of those shuffles get prettttty slow!

Again, not what I meant. There’s a difference between celebrating and mugging for the camera. And I’m pretty sure most of us think Vlady acts like a clown, ha ha.

Anyhow I don’t think my opinion is important enough where you need it for all these other home runs. Just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. ✌️

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Caminero doesn't even get plunked in their first series against each other next season. After Bautista's bat flip (and subsequent retaliation against him), pimping bombs seems almost expected with home crowds now in big moments. Bautista took one for everyone back then, which unintentionally made the game more fun.

Thats pretty much how everyone is though. There's always a line where someone thinks "i'm cool with celebrations but like...  that's too far"

His was pretty close to my line too and I hate the Rays.

Agreed. Everybody bat flips now. Ohtani just flipped his bat like 10-15 feet in the air after his latest homerun. Every time I see it I chuckle thinking about how just 11 years ago Joey Bats did his bat flip and everybody lost their freaking minds over it. The sentiment has changed so much it's crazy.

No wonder why Rasmussen had one of his best seasons yet:

CONTRACT:

2027 Club Option includes a $500,000 buyout

2027 Option Escalators

2026 Injury-Conditionals (must pass 2027 physical)
75+ arm-related IL days: 105 total IL days: $2.5M
75 or less arm-related IL days + 105 or less total IL days: $3.5M
45 or less arm-related IL days + 75 or less total IL days: $4.5M
15 or less arm-related IL days + 45 or less total IL days: $6M (earned)

2026 Games Started (cumulative)
8: $500k (earned)
12: $750k (earned)
16: $1M (earned)
20: $1M (earned)
24: $1.25M (earned)
28: $1.5M (earned)

That's fair.  I knew when I saw it that it would become a point of contention and a talking point on sports media.  I knew someone would comment on it here.  I understand that everyone has a line - I was just clarifying that his line was continuous motion :)

I believe incentives can give a player a little extra motivation, sure. That’s just human nature - whether it’s in baseball, at work or really anything else, people are generally going to be a little more motivated when there’s a meaningful reward attached to reaching certain goals.

But yes, I just don’t believe Rasmussen suddenly had one of the best seasons of his career because there were incentives attached to his contract. When healthy, he's proven he can pitch at an elite level. The bigger factor is that he stayed healthy, made 30 starts and pitched really good. The incentives may have provided some extra motivation along the way, but they weren’t necessarily the reason he performed at that level.

As for the Brewers ticket situation, those tickets didn’t guarantee a specific section. So if the best available seats ended up being standing room or high in the upper deck, then technically that may have been the best available at the time. If better seats later open up, though, I do think those ticket holders should have access to them. Regardless, the Brewers should honour the ticket and give them the best seat available. That said, I still don’t understand why anyone would buy something that vague to begin with and put up all that money up front lol.

The bigger issue is how so many fans are priced out of these events now. Similar to with the Blue Jays last Postseason. You can support a team for 20–30 years as a true fan, watch almost every game, attend 10–20 games a season, buy merchandise and stick with them through all the terrible years. Then the one time they finally make the World Series - the moment you’ve been waiting for your entire life - you’re suddenly priced out of attending. That’s probably one reason I don’t get as emotionally attached to sports teams as I used to. At the end of the day, I just try to enjoy them for the entertainment.

It's gross.  One of the negatives of capitalism.

I certainly felt this last year.  Baseball and the Blue Jays have been a major part of my entire life.  My 3 boys all play competitive baseball and follow the Blue Jays religiously.  I make good money and live a comfortable life, but I couldn't even remotely consider going to a World Series game last year, while an awful lot of people who did go, make so much money that they didn't even have to think twice about it.  It's been trending that way for almost 50 years and will only get worse.

I think there is a large number of people who don't actually have any money sense and will throw their credit card at tickets without much thought.  They had 250K people in waiting queues per game. 45K people were not rich, maybe half and half were making poor decisions.

Just listened to a really good interview with Paul Molitor on MLB radio

It's nice to see everybody rallying around this awesome team

And he's throwing out the first pitch on Saturday

No doubt there's a large percentage of the population who are morons, but I do think most of those who attended were rich or were gifted tickets from a corporation.

Obviously there are people who had flex packs or got early access to some face value tickets that were expensive, but not financially crippling.  I think a lot of people work hard to land face value tickets just to re-sell them for profit too, which is also gross.

It's not as bad as the Super Bowl yet, but you know it's not the diehard fans at those games.  It would be even worse if the Leafs ever make the Stanley Cup finals.

Gotta pull up the boot straps I guess.

Yup. I actually had the opportunity to buy a single World Series ticket at face value through the Blue Jays site, but even the upper-level prices were ridiculous. A single 200-level ticket would’ve basically cost me an entire paycheque. I just can’t justify that.

I was disappointed, obviously, but it is what it is. I followed this team through a lot of the dark years when they weren’t even drawing 20,000 fans a night or sniffing the postseason. I’d still go to games, buy jerseys and merchandise, watch almost every night on TV, etc., back when most of Toronto and Canada really didn’t care about the Jays.

Then the team finally reaches the World Series and suddenly a lot of the fans who supported them through all those years are priced out, while plenty of people who recently jumped on the bandwagon are paying crazy money to go to games, take selfies and make TikTok videos. That part does bother me.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always said I’d do almost anything to be at the Dome for a Game 7 of the World Series. Hopefully I still get that opportunity someday - and while I’d obviously expect Game 7 tickets to be expensive, hopefully they aren’t quite as ridiculous as the prices were this time around.

100%

Also, couldn't understand how people were lining up at the Jays Shop every morning purchasing a bunch of Blue Jays merch that said 2025 Postseason or World Series. Like seriously, don't they have jobs? I bet a lot of those people were just throwing their credit cards at any new Postseason merch that came out without much thought as well.

I was at the lowest attendance game in blue jays history.  April 17, 1979.  I was also at the 2nd lowest attendance game against the orioles in September 2009.  I wore a blue jays hat the JFK airport.  I sent Carlos Delgado love letters.
