The problem was we got hot but every other wild card contender  has literally not lost a single game

Red Sox lost to the Pirates again and have lost 7 of their last 10 

Would LOVE to see them fall 3-4 more games back and let two WC spots be potentially in reach

Tough loss, but if you told me at the beginning of the week that the Jays would take 3 of 4 from the Red Sox and 2 of 3 from the Yankees, I think every Jays fan would’ve taken that without hesitation. Going 5–2 against two divisional rivals is a very successful homestand, regardless of how frustrating the final game was.

The real test comes now against Tampa Bay on the road. After the strides they made during this homestand, you can’t afford to give it all right back with a poor series in Tampa and then another bad one in New York next weekend. Win both of these road series and then we're getting more serious. Worst case, you’ve got to come out of this road trip at least 3–3 to stay within reach.

Yeah this was one of the worst umpire "performances" I can recall in recent memory. The missed call that bugged me the most was the potential ball 4 call to Kirk which was immediately followed by a GIDP.

Just need to avoid complete disaster and we will be fine. 2-4 is probably good enough.

In the meantime, Springer looks like a walking corpse out there. We should IL him for Keys.

Both Springer and Vlad have been unbelievably bad for the majority of the year.

Not sure why the front office is so hesitant to DL these guys when its clearly been necessary at several points throughout the season.

Spring was good in June and great in July.  It looked like he'd just gotten healthy after the early season toe injury.  But he's been bad the last 3 weeks. We really need him to snap out of it.  But this somewhat explains why he stays in the lineup.  They probably hope this is a 2-3 week slump.  The question is whether it is or if it's a bigger issue...

We don't need 3 wins from these 6. Going 2-4 vs the Rays and Yankees on the road is totally acceptable, as long as we then start doing the business against the garbage we play the last five weeks.

Its just hard not to see from the outside that injuries have really hampered both Vlad and Springer to the point they are essentially unplayable/hurting the lineup.  

Team would have been better off if they had gone to the DL for an appropriate period of time to heal from their injuries. Instead they have had lingering issues for majority of the year.

Been sweet to sweep the Yankees on a good start by Dylan. But they the bounces sometimes. Still 5-2 against Red Sox and Yankees.

Going 2–4 on this road trip likely wouldn’t bury them, but we’re at the point of the season where you’re running out of games and need to bank as many wins as possible. I know the schedule gets easier after this trip, but you can’t just take that for granted and assume they’re going to walk all over those teams especially with this lineup. We’ve seen plenty of times in baseball that an “easy” opponent doesn’t automatically translate into a series win. So take whatever you can get right now, even against Tampa and New York. If the Jays can come out of this six-game road trip at 3–3, I’d consider that a huge success.

agreed. 3-3 would be an excellent outcome given the teams being played on the trip. Winning the series in Yankee stadium would just be a nice FU to them too.

Springer was grimacing through every swing of that final AB yesterday. It was awful.

Keys has been hitting again in AAA. I say give him a shot.

Kinda have to you'd think, even though Keys can't hit breaking balls to save his life. 75% whiff rate on curve balls in his looks so far. Running Springer out there when he's hurt won't be any better.

It would be better but no, this thread is hilarious, Jays just won 5 of 7 against the Bosox and Yanks, end of days, sold at the deadline like everyone wanted, yet sit a game back of a post season position and the mouth breathers are running around with their hair on fire. I was hoping for a 6-8(the more the merrier) wins during this stretch, hahaha... when we finish up this week we play a lot of weak opponents to close out the year. Likely going to come down to the last day of the year I think.
