I still want to know why Smith was playing so deep at third in a bunt situation. Did JS think that the Phillies wouldn't play to tie it up at home? Wtf is going on?

Utterly brain dead.   Team has a lot of stupid folks from top down and it shows in their on field play when they repeat the same mistakes.

I mean we took 2 out of 3 but with 5 teams ahead of his it's almost like you can't afford to lose any games.

Sure would be nice if they had better relief arms to step in than Estrada, Waldron and Little if they were going to trade Hoffman while they try to claw their way back into a playoff spot.

The playoff odds are still dropping even though we are playing a little better.  I think they went from like 8% to 6% and lower obviously after today.

The playoff odds are just essentially the chance of a 1/15 semi-miracle where Jays go on an insane run, or the other teams weave a weird needle where they all stay a couple of games under .500.

Every week neither of those things happen we are closer to the end.  A bad week we are that end.  Could be Over Thursday.  We will see.

I mean it is over, as in a once every 20 years thing would have to happen, but could over in a 1 in a million before long.

The Hoffman deal was the sell side of the hybrid type of TDL

Yeah I realize that, but the guy had been dominant for nearly three months, wasn't a pending free agent, and losing him severely weakened the Jays bullpen given the lackluster options they have to replace his innings.

Anyways, what's done is done. I just hope the stud pitching prospect they got makes me eat my words sometime in the next 3-4 years.

They will replace him next season. Here are the free agents next year. Some pretty decent options in there:

Andrés Muñoz (club option), David Bednar, Aroldis Chapman (mutual option), Adrian Morejon, Ryan Helsley (opt-out), Kenley Jansen (club option), Bryan Abreu, Emmanuel Clase (club option), Pete Fairbanks, Carlos Estévez (club option), Jason Adam, Raisel Iglesias, José Alvarado, Emilio Pagán (opt-out), Blake Treinen, Alex Vesia, Garrett Whitlock (club option), Matt Strahm, Shawn Armstrong (mutual option), Kirby Yates, Evan Phillips, Paul Sewald, Danny Coulombe
