Two more years of team control, this was his first arb year. High percentile GB and whiff rates, this is a pretty big pickup.

Plus if he works out over the next couple years, he'll still be young enough to lock up long term (27 now, FA at 29)

Initial reaction - dislike

But now that Nimmala is an Angel all of his flaws are obvious. They were always trading him. Can't hit spin etc.

I prefer Detmers, but I like it.

Gut reaction is disappointed at seeing Nimmala traded. The Jays don’t develop prospects this young and this good very often. Maybe he’s flawed and this will be seen as selling high in hindsight but the Jays aren’t exactly littered with high upside prospects so trading one even for a controllable need seems a bit excessive given the team is 2 months away from finishing in last place in their division.

No more SS of the future now since Parker is a 3b according to the industry experts.

Nimmala now gonna rot in Anaheim...poor kid.

Jojo Parker has made Nimmala more expendable

JoJo is projected to be a 3b

Not even speaking positionally, just in terms of Nimmala no longer being our highest value position prospect

Adding the other two prospects seems.... gratuitous

Ah, so from the perspective that youre not as worried about trading a potential blue chip SS because you have a possible blue chip 3b still.

Yeah, I guess.

I haven't read any Angels fans reactions to this, but they can't be thrilled. They've struggled so badly to put a quality roster together for quite some time - trading a quality 27 year old cost controlled SP for prospects won't get them any closer next year.

No, just more like it would have been more difficult to fathom moving Nimmala when he was our only position prospect of real consequence

They are ecstatic to be "actually selling" and they think Nimmala alone is a good get

I guess having a clear direction is better than floundering in mediocrity, but they'll have to do a better job of developing young talent in order for this to work out for them

Thats pretty much exactly what i said, just in different words.

I felt Nimmala was being underrated by the scouting community but, hey, no point worrying about that now.

Micheletti is a good stopgap type of player that will probably hold down a bench spot. Org managers he's played for loved him for his attitude and ability to get more results than his tools suggest he should.
