So what do the Yankees plan to do once they have Rice, Stanton, Garcia, Goldschmidt and maybe an injured Judge all available?

I don't think the Yankees are planning for Stanton to be reasonably healthy at any point this season. Goldschmidt and Garcia Jr. will platoon 1B/ DH. Rice will play every day. If Judge comes back and has to DH for a week or so, they might just play Garcia Jr. in like 2B or 3B and hope for the best. Not like they're known for their defense as things stand.

Ya that makes sense... its crowded but im jealous of the offensive talent available.  Only truly gets crowded if Stanton returns and Judge needs DH time when returning.

if there is no cap I think one of the main fixes is that the deferred money needs to count towards the current threshold.  You can defer paying someone all you/they want, however it hits the threshold now.  therefore the tax is increased and therefore it limits the big spenders some and more cash comes back to the rest of the league.

Remember that there's a decent chance next year may not happen, or at least most of it may not.

I mean yes that’s true but you kind of have to operate under the assumption you will be preparing to field a good club for next year.

Baseball losing momentum now is so bad for the sport because it has seen a pretty good jump in ratings in general. Despite the Dodgers dominance attendance and ratings are up across the league.

I don’t think a lot of fans will care if we lose April and May. It’s when we get into June is when it’s going to really hit hard.

They should just not allow deferred money anymore, at all

I don't think it is an issue BUT there is no upside to the league in allowing it and there are clearly big optics downsides

Judge is probably the Yankees DH moving forward. Not sure what they do with Stanton, but he's probably done as an everyday player for them. If they try to keep Judge in RF given his age and now injury, then good luck to them.

Mariners are 2 games back of the wc and it seems they're in full sell mode...

I believe the actual prospect comparison for Bateman was a LH Miles Straw

Bateman is an immediate replacement for Varsho once he’s traded. He’s never going to hit for power but above average speed and base running and good D in CF.

i don’t know much about the SS

But this trade netted me a grand lol, I had a bet about this and this was the trade I predicted for Gausman.

This exact trade or just him going to the Cubs?

lol, how?

I was as looking through a few contending teams that needed SP that weren’t on his no trade list and took a gander at MLB ready OF and a MIF or OF lottery ticket in the 15-30 range and this package stood out based on Bateman being a major league ready CF and a chance of Varsho being moved it sort of made sense to get a 24 year old CF who plays plus D with plus plus speed and an eye that Atkins seems to like and the SS seemed the same.

That's wild. Where can you even bet on something like this?

Well done.

Too bad we couldn't do something like Guasman + Hoffman for Alcantara

My fantasy baseball league does side bets around the deadline and if you’re open to going all in on predictions with specifics you can basically double your winnings if others will go in, if you’re wrong it just ends up in the league pot.

So we now get to see the trades that didn't go through?  It's odd though
