These losses suck/hurt man.  We are literally losing games because of our low IQ and not being able to make basic plays.

After the way 2025 ended, I was sure this team was gonna come focused like the 2014 Spurs did after choking the 2013 title away.  Instead, it looks like guys were just happy to lose in Game 7 of the World Series.

Its a combo of under performance and injuries but also this many one run losses has a luck aspect as well.

That last vlad at bat... all talent, zero approach. Its not acceptable.

What was wrong with that AB? He hit it well, if that's 5 feet to the right it's a gapper. 97.7MPH EV with a .320 xBA. One of his better PA's in weeks aside from his HR the other day. I agree with the former.

The actual ball he put in play was great. That was unlucky.

But what the hell was he doing on strike 2? Why is he protecting the plate on strike 2 on a fastball up and away, when you can tell that he is not looking for a pitch to drive oppo from his swing?

It shows that he just does not have an approach. Every at bat you can tell that its just survival. He isn't hunting pitches.

Ah, I see, agreed. He also swung off balance using zero of his lower half, he's been doing that a lot in this slump.

Vlad had some UGLY strings that final AB. Some of the worst mechanics I have ever seen for him

Off balance swings not using his lower half, been happening a lot during this slump, injury maybe?

I've complained about that from Vladdy for a very long time. He takes protection swings with less than two strikes. He's always done that and I don't f***ing understand why. It's about the dumbest thing you can do.

Schneider being fired is not so far fetched now

Given the way this team operates I can’t imagine that is the case.  However, given the little mistakes every single night and the for the most part universally godawful approaches at the plate maybe it would do good.  This roster has some serious issues, arguably even before the injuries decimated it (no good hitting lefty infielders or righty outfielders when starters had clear platoon splits).

Nobody wants to hear it, but the team is actually playing a bit better. We’re just 3-4 in the last 7, but all 4 losses were by one run, and the offense has looked much more alive against the Rays and Yankees.

The division is probably gone, but WC3 will be easy to make. If we can avoid further injury, there’s still plenty of time to turn this around.

Can’t sleep and doomscrolling but we are getting close to this point.

With Shapiro and Atkins both getting big fat contracts this past winter, I wonder what plan they decide to go with at the deadline if they are still looking like a middling team. I don't see the Jays overtaking the Yankees or Rays, so they'd basically be playing for one of the last 2 wild card spots in a season where 82 wins might get them there. Does it really make sense to be big time buyers in that scenario? Rogers wants stadiums filled in the summer so that probably answers that question but either way if the Jays are buyers then I hope they are more conservative buyers unless the division and/or WC1 looks realistic.

If the current pattern holds (and things should get better) they will definitely be buyers.

It would be sweet if they could sell AND still slip into the WC and maybe win a round.

We've seen teams do this in past years.  I think Detroit was the latest when they dealt Flaherty to LA in 2024.

$500m man is now on pace for a 1.5 WAR season

time is a flat circle

What happened before will happen again.

Question is whether he now goes full Jayson Heyward, or goes back to good Vlad for some significant time periods.

A hard needle for a big market to manage and it would depress the hell out of all of us.

If they anywhere near WC3 they will either buy or hold. So would have to be like 45-60 at deadline, then go crazy and sneak in.

Didn't Cleveland sell as well last deadline?

Yep - traded Bieber to us and Sewald to the Tigers and still made the WC after going on a tear at the end of the year.  The Tigers blew the 15.5 game lead in the division...

The Flaherty/Detroit one always pops into my mind.  He was pitching near/at a #1 level when they dealt him to LA and still made the playoffs and won a round.
