Alright, so maybe the Angels aren't terrible, but this is the kind of team the Jays need to take care of. They're at home, and Cease is on the mound.

Man it's hard to get excited

Don't let the Debbie Downers get to you.

The team is a game and a half back of a Wild Card spot and we are relatively healthy for the first time all season with Kirk on track to return by month's end.

The Angels are in town and Cease is on the bump. I'm excited as hell for some Jays baseball this weekend.

16-21 is basically just a mediocre stretch that every team goes through at some point in the year. The Rays' series at the Trop was a bummer, but we were in decent shape heading into it, all things considered, with how miserable we've been with injury luck.

The Yankees could easily go 15-15 over their next 30 games while we break out. The Rays, despite their devil magic, haven't even rated as a good team, regression is expected to come for them.

The second WC team was the other team in the ALCS last year lol. We're fine, lot of season left to go.

The AL is all kinds of ass this season. I would assume some other teams are going to start to break away from the pack to follow the Yankees and Rays, but could be one of those years when a WC spot can be had with a low/mid 80's win total.

2 wildcard spots at under .500 is so nutty lol. Exactly why its dumb to worry too much about standings this early.

Just need to play better ball and get back to .500

Its not like because they had a 16-21, the chances of a second 16-21 go down.  If fact they go up, because the 16-21 indicates a lesser team then we thought.

So like if projected 90 wins we expect 21-16 for the first 37 games.  Hard truth is those are 5 games are now gone so now projected 85 wins.  Plus injuries and the bad performance get put in the projection system and it's 81.

Plus the Yankees overperformed by 5 games.  So now they are projected 95

The math is tough.  The situation is dire.  I appreciate that Blue Jays message board fights in face of math and science.  A lot of spirit there.

Seattle was the division winner too

Back of Napkin odds of wild card winning world series is 1/20 and division winner 1/6.  If all was equal and every round was 50/50 it would be 1/16 and 1/8.  But wild cards are lesser teams, and have to go against a Division winner with 5 days rest and pitching set up nicely.

That's back of napkin but its something like that.

We are a game and a half out of a playoff spot and finally getting healthy.

Why are the Debbie Downers like this?

Is it depression? Low T? Or maybe they are just trolling? I really just don't get it.

1.7% chance of winning the division.   30% chance of making playoffs.  Projected for 79 wins.

Yankees projected for 95.  I am neither negative nor positive, just reporting the news from fangraphs

The facts are against us.

The history says we can't do it.

But despite it all, I believe that this team can achieve the impossible by making up what seems like an insurmountable 1.5 game lead with just 125 games left.

There is about a 1 in 3 chance you are correct!

I am not sure why I am getting a rep as negative.  In fact in a recent post I already speculated as to who the White Sox (I think they could be a surprise division winner) will pitch against us as we sneak into the last wild card spot with 79 wins.

Jays (79-83) over white sox (80-82)  2-1 ALWC

Jays (79-83) over Rays (105-57) 3-1 ALDS

Jays (79-83) over Yankees (108-52) 4-1 ALCS

Dodgers (114-48) over Jays (79-83) 4-2 in WS

Sorry I am not completely positive but that is my prediciton!

Chill out dude, I just posted a snapshot of the WC standings.

You lot are so easily triggered. If I were a troll, I could have a field day.

You keep doing this thing where you post nonsense, then backtrack the second people start dunking on you. Either you change the argument (like yesterday with the Red Sox) or pretend you never said it (like today).

Are you really trying to say all you posted was a Wild Card standings snapshot? You didn’t add the arrows and make some dumb point about the Angels? And you weren’t posting about “facts” and “history”?

Come on pal, if you’re going to take shots at people being optimistic, at least stand by them instead of running away the second you get called out.

Everything I posted yesterday about the Red Sox was fact. Your replies were the nonsense part, and when I and others refuted your responses, you went into meltdown.

Relax, man, it's just a game. Not every fan is going to be a Happy Clapper.

Deal with it.

Some of the worst advice I ever received came from myself.
