I just want to see a fat dude leg out a triple. I'm not saying he's anything special.

I also need no education on the minors, I live in the minor league box scores and metrics sites.

Did not mean to imply you were hyping Williams.  Just that people were a few years ago.

Whats messed up... the video highlights from that game had his double, but not his triple. Kinda weird.

Nolan Perry has struck out 28 of the 55 batters he's faced in A+ ball.

I'd guess it won't be much longer before he finds himself in AA.

He's at 36 innings, Not sure what he would top out at first year back from injury, but maybe try for 4/5 AA starts before shutting him down?

Jay Harry is kind of going crazy in double A. Not sure if he is a dude or not. He seems young enough and plays a ton of positions.,, unsure how well. He was the trevor richards trade.

Alexis Hernandez for vancouver is also going nuts recently. He was a minor league rule 5 guy i think.

And he is of course.... another left handed hitter!!!

Yup... 1.000+ ops at home, .750 away. All HRs at home. Short LF porch stats boost most likely.

I just noticed something somewhat odd...

Nimmala isn't the youngest jay in double A. David Guzman was promoted a couple of days ago. Aged 20, did two years in the DSL and complex, and then this year a short stint in complex, a short stint at low A and then straight to double A.

Anyone heard of him? He's now the 5th youngest guy in AA.

Guzman is 5'7" 160 he's certainly just an org guy moving around to fill a need? I would assume

From Pipeline...

Projected Future Role
Scouts view him as a potential corner platoon bat or a second-division regular. To secure a big-league future, he will need to continue hitting for high averages to compensate for his lack of over-the-fence raw power. Follow his daily progression and season stats via MLB.com. [1]

From BA...

David Guzman is a 20-year-old Venezuelan outfielder and left-handed hitter in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Originally signed as an international free agent in 2023, he profiles as a corner outfielder with advanced bat-to-ball skills and a line-drive approach rather than a power hitter.

Scouting Grades & Tools
  • Hit Tool (Above Average): His calling card is excellent bat control. Guzman features a compact swing and a patient, advanced approach for his age. He consistently walks more than he strikes out and makes hard contact to all fields.
  • Power (Below Average): He has a short, sturdy frame and does not project as a traditional power hitter. Instead of hunting for home runs, he focuses on line drives and gap-to-gap hitting.
  • Defense & Arm (Average): Primarily a right fielder, he possesses reliable footwork and an average arm suited for a corner outfield spot, with occasional reps in center and left.

I subscribe to a substack called Down on the Farm. Its well worth the money, they do a lot of cool research on prospects (they had a great article on breakouts vs age in triple A for example) but only do hitters, i think because they believe that mlb orgs are so ahead of the public on pitching that its basically pointless.

Anyway, they have an analytical model that populates their rankings, and the three best jays are interesting. Nimmala (extremely high on Nimmala, top 10 overall), Pinto and Dub Gleed.

I obviously wouldn't buy fully into any one ranking but I wouldn't doubt that the jays have a similar model because pinto and gleed are guys they got in trade.

Kasevich and Nimmela are putting up decent numbers in AAA and AA respectively.

Next year, Kasevich probably is with the big team, and Nimmela is probably in AAA.

It is too bad they are not a bit further in their development because the team could use a rh batting middle infielder right now.

Don’t think it would be worth giving Kasevich a look this year while they send Schneider down to work out his issues at the plate? Or even give him a shot over Sosa?

Does McAdoo play any 2B or is he strictly a 3B?

I would give Kasevich a look this year to see what they have. Maybe he sticks. At the very least, they need to know if him making the Big Leagues next year is a viable option. If your alternatives are Sosa and Schneider, you have nothing to lose.

Similar to Pinango. They now know that they have MLB player in Pinango. It makes decisions going forward easier.

what you lose is the 40 man spot. Right now you can wait to see if its worth protecting him in the rule 5 season end.

yeah, it is unfortunate a 20-year old SS isn't major league ready yet. That happens like, every year for other teams.

/sarcasm  ya ass.

aslo, I'm not sure I expect anything from Kasevich other than backup MIF who won't hit a lick. That's not really going to move the needle at all. What it MAY do is free up a tiny bit of cash they could spend elsewhere but again, not really a big deal.

Blaine Bullard is having a nice start to his pro career and mashing a bit lately.

He could strike out a little bit less but a fast switch hitting CF with more pop than thought is exciting.

Johnny King with his first major hiccup. Got his tits lit tonight giving up 5 ER in just 0.1 IP, 4 hits, 3BB, 1 K

That helps, as Jake Cook is off to a brutal start.
