Cease was pretty impressive. Big velo going today. 70% K rate well above his norm. Said a tweak in his delivery is helping his location.

Yeah, he was solid, during the broadcast they showed that gear he uses to keep himself over the rubber, it was cool information.

That didn't age well.

They should DFA Lauer and Straw, both are awful during spring training camp.

Come on, Straw hit for .174, and Lauer have a beautiful 8.64 ERA, and they have less than 0 trade values.

It's spring training numb nuts

Some people wanted to DFA Springer after last years abysmal spring training

This guy was a perfect candidate for the ignore list.

Springer was like 1 for 36 last spring.  He was abysmal and I don't think it would have been crazy for the Jays to have DFA'd him coming off a 94 wRC+ 1.1 WAR season.

Then that beautiful SOB just popped off with the most glorious comeback season I've ever witnessed.

Not that I think either of those guys will have close to the impact Springer had last year, but please take a look at Springer's 2025 spring training numbers.  His triple slash line was .108/.298/.216 for an OPS of .514.  Trayce Thompson had 6 homers and an OPS of 1.280.  Joc Pederson hit 5 homers with a 1.027 OPS.  Spring stats mean nothing.

All are welcome, so let's educate instead of isolate.

Feel free to take on that project mphenhef.  Ideally via DM.  You're the man for the job.

Eloy's already accepted starting at Buffalo, I'm talking LEO bro. He's valuable.

Yeah lol agree, we need an acceptable middle INF option in case of injury

I'm not so sure about that as Josh Kasevich is pushing hard for a job himself.

Well, that's entirely different, lol.

Willful ignorance cannot be educated.

On second thought, where's the ignore button?

I think it makes a lot more sense to carry Leo and let Kasevich play full time in AAA.  He's missed a lot of time the past few years and needs the reps.  He still carries some upside and may be the preferred option if there's an injury to a starter...

gah if the jays go into this season with ponce throwing 40%+ fastball, im going to lose my mind. they either need to move it to an even usage split with the cutter or just add some kind of sinker (that every right handed pitcher in baseball seems to be adding this off-season), or his fastball is going to get rocked around the yard.

all of his other pitches are complimented by his release height and velocity, they shouldn't be throwing the clear worst pitch he has more than twice as often as the others!!!
